Hard To Believe: UAE Will Work To Defuse Middle East Tension

Recommended Posts

The United Arab Emirates seek a de-escalation of tension in the Middle East, the head of state-run Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) said on Tuesday, after Iran accused the United States of closing the path to diplomacy with new sanctions. “The UAE will work ... to defuse and deescalate the current threat,” Sultan al-Jaber, chief executive of ADNOC and minister of state, told a conference in London. “Now is the time for wisdom, diplomacy and the concerted efforts of the international community.”

They do: US, Saudi Arabia, UAE and UK in joint statement:  “We call on Iran to halt any further actions which threaten regional stability, and urge diplomatic solutions to de-escalate tensions.”

He's right. Obviously, while UAE and others want pressure on the Iran, they also fear any escalation that could easily get out of control. Time for a regional-international dialogue on stabilization...

I wonder why? Common denominator in all the instability is the US, and to a lesser extent EU and Israel

The vast majority of the escalation is provided by the US, its sanctions and its navy. Of course the Iranians are going to react.
