The Home Battery That Stores Renewable Energy

Recommended Posts

The renewable energy is challenged with finding ways to store it on days when there's no sun or wind. German technology company Sonnen is working on the solution for this. It is creating a battery that not only stores residential renewable energy but also allows users to trade their excess energy with others.

German has definitely stepped into renewable energy. Wind turbines and solar panels became something you can see on almost every house, not only in urban part of this country but also on the most rural farmhouses.

I don't think this is something new. Tesla already did the same thing in South Australia with the world's biggest lithium ion battery. Same thing, same lithium, even the price  could compete with Tesla's. Just $7,000.

Yes, but if you look at that in the long run, it's very easy to calculate that in 20 years you will save a lot of money compared to buying power from the grid.

20 years? Too long to calculate. Don't even like to think that far in the future. I like fast solutions.

20 years is too long to see a return on an investment. They'll need to do better than that. Is that really the timing for ROI?

Not really. Unless Adam is talking about 20 years of an expected lifetime of this battery.
