France’s president is urging Iran to immediately reduce its stockpiles of low-enriched uranium and stick to the terms of the 2015 nuclear deal with world powers. Emmanuel Macron said in a statement Tuesday that he “took note with concern” of Iran’s announcement that it has surpassed the limit of 300 kilograms (661 pounds) of low-enriched uranium laid out in the accord. Macron asked Iran also abstain from any other steps that would threaten the deal, which promised to lift trade sanctions in exchange for curbing Iran’s atomic program. France strongly opposed President Donald Trump’s decision to withdraw the U.S. from the deal and impose new sanctions on Iran.

Im still trying to figure out why anyone with a brain would think that Iran should comply with a deal that none of the signatories have stuck too. Not only has the US unilaterally walked away from it but all other signatories comply with the new sanctions the US implemented. As far as im concerned as a european, the US is to blame for most if not all trouble in the ME. There can hardly be any doubt as to the reasons for current tension in Gulf. And to single out iran as a supporter of terrorism, well the us and eu have been doing the same in iraq and syria for a number of years. Alqaeda of all groups was supported. The EU plans to go around U.S. sanctions to work with Iran.  They told Iran last week they would do so and give Iran whatever it needs to maintain the Iran Nuclear Deal.  Today's announcement by Iran that it is enriching its uranium stockpile for nuclear capability shows that the EU as a group is meaningless without the U.S.  The EU need to wakeup and join forces with the West to crush Iran once and for all, along with its surrogates.

Macron thinks he's a big dog. No one listens to France. I think France's real worry is this will give the US more ammunition to take out the Shia regime in Iran and spoil her business opportunities there. France is worried the US will 'drag' NATO into military action against Iran but France is largely useless with regards to NATO anyway.

If you paid attention during the Helsinki summit, Trump openly declared the European Union "foe of the USA". Why would EU join forces with a country that defines itself as its foe? And what exactly is the "West" these days? USA that threatens to sanction Germany for building the Nord Stream 2 pipeline?
