Trump Hails Economy, Energy, Environment

Recommended Posts

The Mainstream Media is going batsh*t bonkers over Trump's speech yesterday.  Struck a nerve.

MSM desperately do not want people to observe that America is actually doing a bangup great job in both energy and the environment, and that the insane "Green New Deal" would totally destroy the U.S. if implemented.

Here are a couple of articles for your consideration, in this comment and my next one below.

First up, from Rigzone:

Trump Hails Economy, Energy, Environment

The United States is proving that a strong economy and a vibrant energy sector are compatible with a healthy environment.

That’s according to U.S. President Donald Trump, who expressed the view in a White House speech on America’s environmental leadership on Monday.

In the speech, Trump said his administration was “unlocking American energy” and highlighted that U.S. energy-related carbon emissions had declined “more than any other country on Earth” since 2000.

Following Trump’s speech, Ed Longanecker, president of the Texas Independent Producers & Royalty Owners Association (TIPRO), said advancing economic growth, energy security and protecting the environment were not “mutually exclusive”.

“Under the Trump administration, officials have successfully scaled back many of the unnecessary, burdensome regulations hindering growth of the U.S. oil and gas industry, while at the same time strengthening environmental protections in the United States,” Longanecker said in an organization statement.

“The U.S. oil and gas industry is making significant progress in reducing energy emissions as domestic production continues to set new records,” he added.

“TIPRO commends president Trump for maintaining his focus on supporting American energy dominance, sensible regulations and protecting the environment for future generations.” Longanecker continued.

Commenting on Trump’s remarks, Todd Staples, president of the Texas Oil & Gas Association (TXOGA), said the group appreciated the president’s commitment to a “clean environment and a robust economy” and stated that TXOGA was proud that the U.S. oil and natural gas industry was “playing a key role in both”.

“Innovation and science-based regulations are the reasons the United States leads the world in reducing air emissions, while our economy continues to grow,” Staples said.

“In fact, the U.S. oil and natural gas industry stands out as the leading investor in zero- and low-carbon technology, having invested more than $301.5 billion in greenhouse gas mitigating technologies between 2000-2016 – more than the investments by other private sector industries and the federal government, combined,” he added.

“At the same time, energy production has reached record levels and American-produced energy is providing stability and improved air quality in nations across the globe,” Staples continued.

Next up, from the Epoch Times:

Trump Lauds Environmental Progress Ahead of Clean Air Report

President Donald Trump on July 8 celebrated the environmental progress made under his administration, days before the release of an annual air quality report that will show the air in the United States has become 1 percent cleaner since 2018 and 74 percent cleaner since the early 1970s.

The president said that the water and air in the United States are cleaner than in any other nation in the world. Environmental officials pointed to progress made on reducing carbon dioxide and methane emissions, cleaning up hazardous waste sites, and removing plastic debris from the world’s oceans.

“Among the heritage we must preserve is our country’s incredible natural splendor. That is the shared obligation that brings us together today,” Trump said.

“From day one, my administration has made it a top priority to ensure that America has among the very cleanest air and cleanest water on the planet. We want the cleanest air. We want crystal clean water. And that’s what we’re doing, and that’s what we’re working on so hard.”

The president noted that the United States is ranked first in the world in terms of access to clean drinking water. In one measure of air quality, the United States has six times fewer pollutant particles than the global average, he noted.

... “The president recognizes that a strong economy is critical for technology and innovation, for modern resilient infrastructure, and for environmental protection,” Neumayr said. “We want to pursue a strong economy so that we will have the resources to advance technology and innovation, and build more modern and resilient infrastructure, and provide for environmental protection.”

Trump’s critics, aided by establishment media, have attacked the president’s practical approach, accusing him of sacrificing the climate for profits. Despite the accusations, the United States continues a decades-long trend of improving air and water quality.

For example, during the 1970s, only 42 percent of drinking water met quality standards set by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA); today, 92 percent of drinking water meets those standards. All six criteria used to measure air pollution have improved over the decades and continue to under Trump.

“For years, politicians told Americans that a strong economy and a vibrant energy sector were incompatible with a healthy environment. In other words, one thing doesn’t go with the other. And that’s wrong, because we’re proving the exact opposite,” Trump said.

The United States is one of the few industrialized nations to meet the environmental goals set out in the Paris accord even after having quit it. Trump noted that every signatory of the accord lags behind the United States in reducing carbon emissions.

... The president contrasted his approach with the socialist Green New Deal policy proposal backed by more than 100 House Democrats, which, by one estimate, would cost U.S. taxpayers $93 trillion over the course of a decade. Trump called the price tag “unthinkable” and “not affordable even in the best of time.” The projected total spending for the next 10 years is roughly $60 trillion.

Trump said the Green New Deal would “kill millions of jobs. It’ll crush the dreams of the poorest Americans and disproportionally harm minority communities.”

“I will not stand for it. We will defend the environment but we will also defend American sovereignty, American prosperity, and we will defend American jobs.”

...
