What About Kirkuk's Oil?

Recommended Posts

So, have the Kurds definitively lost Kirkuk to the Iraqis? I've read now that Iraq wants to build a new pipeline to transport oil from Kirkuk to Turkey's port of Ceyhan. Exports have been offline since the Kurdish independence referendum, and Iraq think it's going to export 1 million bpd from its planned new pipeline. That would double Kirkuk's oil exports. But will the Kurds really sit back for this? Independence was never really an option for the Kurds without Kirkuk ...
