Tesla Is Looking To Invest In Chile’s Largest Lithium Producer

Tesla is currently in talks with Chile’s largest lithium producer Sociedad Química y Minera, as a possible partner in the development of a processing plant in the South American country. The deal  would likely result in a new facility that would aid Tesla in securing the supply of raw material used in lithium-ion batteries.

I disagree with you. Although cobalt is a key component for EVs it seems intuitive that Li-ion batteries still require lithium. That's the point of this agreement with the Chileans.
