A person familiar with the probe of Jeffrey Epstein’s death at a federal jail says guards are suspected of falsifying log entries to show they were checking on inmates in his unit every half hour, when they actually weren’t. Epstein is believed to have killed himself early Saturday at the Metropolitan Correctional Center in New York, where he was awaiting trial in a sex trafficking case.
The surveillance video reviewed after the death showed guards never made some of the checks noted in the log, according to the person familiar with the investigation.

Probably nothing... found a jail with some guards they knew wouldn't follow standards and paid 1 judge to get him held there. Fewer people in the know, fewer questions.

Epstein's activities required a flood of these young girls, who were being sourced from perfectly ordinary families in New York City, to go to that $50 million house he built in Manhattan, the place with the medieval castle doors that, once they swung shut, no kid could ever open, being way too heavy.  You have to anticipate that, of those hundreds of teenagers, somewhere along the line there is some niece of some prison guard who is abused.  When your behavior is that bad, and you have angered, infuriated, and inspired loathing in so many people, eventually your luck runs out and you find yourself in a box, late at night, the cameras not working, and a man who really wants to kill you to avenge that niece.  Prison guards are not people who read Voltaire in French, then go write sonnets in the off hours.  These are hardened men, used to being very physically tough. Doing a hanging comes easy.

One little tidbit about these subpoenas:

Those Federal subpoenas, including the ones that the US Attorney's Office issues for really mundane stuff including witness appearances at various civil trials the govt gets involved in, do not include travel money.  Those federal subpoenas are good to anywhere in the USA, even as far away as say Guam.  You then have to figure out how to go travel to the deposition site, find a hotel, stay over, and get home, all on your own nickel.  And if you don't have any money - hey, too bad.  Show up anyway. 

If - very big if - the assistant US attorney that issued that subpoena decides that he liked your testimony, then maybe - big maybe - he might order the reimbursement of your travel expenses.  Maybe.  And you have to front that bill first.  Are you flat broke?  Will it take money away from feeding your family?  Too bad, chum.  We are the Federal Government and you will do as you are instructed.  Or we put you in jail for not showing up.  What a lovely way to run a country.  Just lovely.

(And no, it has not happened to me; I just find it another example of arrogant govt bureaucrats abusing the public, which they do - well, just because they can.)

More bad news.  I just received a phone call from a source who tells me that the Medical Examiner has found the neck bones of Epstein broken. 

You don't break your neck bones by hanging yourself with a bedsheet; you suffocate. You have broken neck bones when someone does a martial-arts neck snap on you, with lots of force. 

Murder inside a jail is serious business.  Especially of someone held in isolation.  Only one conclusion there.  The guards. Uh-oh.

Tom, Epstein was not in one of those units.  That is where the special prisoners are kept.  Epstein was moved out of that cell and to a lower-level cell where he would also have a "roommate" and there would be a double-decker bunk.  However Epstein did not have a roommate assigned.  There is no explanation for being a single occupant of a double bunk cell.  Note also that his bodyguard, "Igor" the Russian, has clammed up and it trying to hide deep underground.  Igor figures that he is now a loose end and will need to be tied off.  Igor, a former Russian Army commando, knows how things work.  

Did the Epstein confidants, who could be exposed for screwing 13-year-olds, recruit some Russian gangster or MMA man from Brighton Beach to be slipped in there and Do Epstein?  Hey, could be, and is likely.  Brighton Beach has tons of Russian mobsters.  It is also about 7 or 8 miles from the Tombs.

I also think that this jail is actually a municipally-run New York City jail, in which the Feds rent bed space on a per diem.  Those guards would be on the City payroll.  For folks reading here who are not familiar with NYC, it is about as sloppy and corrupt as say some pace in Belarus.

Anything involving the British Royal Family and strange deaths must be looked into, there a bad bunch of lounge lizards the worst and nasty with it, ruthless.

I wish he was still alive and spilled the beans, either way if he killed himself I don’t believe it was because of the charges as he would have been able to pay his way into a cozier situation, if he topped himself for other more sinister reasons, or he was topped to protect the socialites and high rollers he had dirt on...

Igor is a very tough guy and can seriously handle himself.  That said, nobody can beat a hitman with a heavy-caliber gun. 

Igor knows that he is on a very short list of people who know too much.  He has been around and knows how it goes down.  Igor is spooked. It tells me that Epstein was hit.  It also tells me that there is a tight cover-up going on.  Probably only two inside guards involved.  My guess is that they slipped some outside hitman in and made sure the cameras were not working that night. Only took five minutes tops, in and out, snap that neck.  Dead men tell no tales. Hey, they never even found Jimmy Hoffa. Serious professionals do that kind of work.
