Axis: Kremlin Hails Special Relationship With China Amid Missile System Cooperation

Recommended Posts

The Kremlin said on Friday that Moscow’s move to help Beijing build an early warning system to detect missile attacks showed the two countries had a special relationship. President Vladimir Putin said on Thursday that Russia was helping China build an early warning system to spot intercontinental ballistic missile launches, something only Russia and the United States possess at the moment. “This is a very serious thing that will radically increase China’s defense capability,” Putin said. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov declined to say when the system would be operational, but told reporters on a conference call that the move highlighted Russia’s close ties with China. Moscow’s relations with Beijing have been marked by mutual wariness in the past and some in Russia are concerned about Chinese influence in the country’s sparsely populated mineral-rich east. Russia and China share a 4,200-km (2,600-mile) border.

So, what they have is not enough, they need more... " Most attention was attracted by the WZ-8 supersonic reconnaissance drone and missile complexes with a DF-17 hypersonic warhead, the DF-100 supersonic cruise missile, and the DF-41 intercontinental missile. All these weapons have never been shown publicly..."

Except for it, what do China and Russia have in common? They get a lot of their oil from Iran...And support the regime in Venezuela, North Korea, Cuba...

Why would Russia get oil from Iran? They're the second largest producer in the world

If Russia didn't have a massive nuclear force it would be just another proxy of China. Or would have had to ally with Nato.

We'll see how long this contract lasts.  Soon as China reverse engineers those missiles they'll just kick Russia to the curb.

Isn’t spending money on a threat that never materialize what finally bankrupted the Soviet Union?

But they do.

I would also argue that Russia would be a meaningful power even without nukes.  Countries that can develop high technology and run successful military operations are few and far between.  Countries that can do those things, have substantial populations, have cultures capable of enduring extreme hardship, and are economically self sufficient are... well, Russia's the only one.

I suspect anyone bold enough to prosecute a war against Russia would come to regret it.

History has proven that twice, so it is fairly obvious. China however has a far larger population closer and fully armed, good supplies. more industry, and nearly equivalent technology, better in some sectors. China also has many of its own workers in China and thus has plenty of information. Something for Russia to remember IMHO.
