Does Europe stand with U.S.  ?

What about the rest of the regional countries ?

Are the sanctions more effective for economic reasons or for fear of forceful reprisal? 

What I mean is, U.S. warships aren't blockading any trade routes to my knowledge. The sanctions are effective because other countries want to stay in good favor with the U.S. economy, I think. So, it's not a matter of shipping as much as finding a market to accept Iranian oil?  I'm not that familiar with how the sanctions are structured, honestly.
