Don't sneeze. Coronavirus is a threat to oil markets and global economies

https://www.scmp.com/news/china/society/article/3047849/china-coronavirus-death-toll-climbs-106-confirmed-cases-surpass

Current reading on their counter is 6052 confirmed.136 dead, 107 cures (from elsewhere)

The big increase yesterday was from the arrival of new test kits in Wuhan. Not so much new cases alone.

The 50% increase is at least not a double every day.

Confirmed cases are already at SARS levels. Mortality isn't, at least not yet.

If they can get even a crappy hospital built in 5 days that's impressive as heck.

Here we wouldn't even be able to pick a site in 5 days let alone break ground. Capitalism and bureaucracy has its downsides.  The request for proposal / tender might be finished in 5 days, maybe.

No, here we would retrofit school gymnasiums or something.

There are plenty of empty stores around the country thanks to Amazon delivering right to the home.

Bible verse of the day. Leviticus 11.

29 “‘Of the animals that move along the ground, these are unclean for you: the weasel, the rat, any kind of great lizard, 30 the gecko, the monitor lizard, the wall lizard, the skink and the chameleon. 31 Of all those that move along the ground, these are unclean for you. Whoever touches them when they are dead will be unclean till evening. 32 When one of them dies and falls on something, that article, whatever its use, will be unclean, whether it is made of wood, cloth, hide or sackcloth. Put it in water; it will be unclean till evening, and then it will be clean. 33 If one of them falls into a clay pot, everything in it will be unclean, and you must break the pot. 34 Any food you are allowed to eat that has come into contact with water from any such pot is unclean, and any liquid that is drunk from such a pot is unclean. 35 Anything that one of their carcasses falls on becomes unclean; an oven or cooking pot must be broken up. They are unclean, and you are to regard them as unclean. 36 A spring, however, or a cistern for collecting water remains clean, but anyone who touches one of these carcasses is unclean. 37 If a carcass falls on any seeds that are to be planted, they remain clean.38 But if water has been put on the seed and a carcass falls on it, it is unclean for you.

39 “‘If an animal that you are allowed to eat dies, anyone who touches its carcass will be unclean till evening. 40 Anyone who eats some of its carcass must wash their clothes, and they will be unclean till evening. Anyone who picks up the carcass must wash their clothes, and they will be unclean till evening.

41 “‘Every creature that moves along the ground is to be regarded as unclean; it is not to be eaten. 42 You are not to eat any creature that moves along the ground, whether it moves on its belly or walks on all fours or on many feet; it is unclean. 43 Do not defile yourselves by any of these creatures. Do not make yourselves unclean by means of them or be made unclean by them. 44 I am the Lordyour God; consecrate yourselves and be holy, because I am holy. Do not make yourselves unclean by any creature that moves along the ground. 45 I am the Lord, who brought you up out of Egypt to be your God; therefore be holy, because I am holy.

46 “‘These are the regulations concerning animals, birds, every living thing that moves about in the water and every creature that moves along the ground. 47 You must distinguish between the unclean and the clean, between living creatures that may be eaten and those that may not be eaten.’”

I think that the ancient Jews did their best to point out some potentially dangerous foods, but obviously were wrong in many cases. Pork being the main one IMHO. Muslims are also wrong on that IMHO. I have heard of people eating rattlesnakes and have wondered about the pythons in Florida. Apparently the Iguanas are pretty popular to eat. It sounds like research may be needed but it may have already been done. The Ethiopians have plenty of locusts right now but after they eat the crops they will just rot. Not enough seagulls around I guess. Locusts and wild honey were favorites of John the Baptist.

Would not thorough cooking kill all viruses, and good handwashing protect one who did not touch eyes, nose, mouth, or cut skin? We deal with salmonella whenever we eat chickens or eggs.

I read recently that some Chinese like to eat live mice and bat soup.. I think they need some cultural changes. It is also not nice to eat dogs and not good publicity for the Chinese.

The spacing on this graph below is way too wide.  And the spacing on the same graph in the lower left of the bottom image below is too narrow.

Increase is not quite double per day, but not far away from doubling every day either.

Sounds and is taking the same course as the US constitution during current impeachment events, suddenly these old manuscripts are almost “gospel” only the 2nd Amendment is relevant.....NOT!

So, what is it that you hate about our wonderful Constitution. We have the best government system in the world thanks to the wisdom of our founding fathers. America is only great if we follow the wisdom that has led us to our current good fortune.

I do believe that our younger generations might turn to socialism and direct democracy due to the socialist and materialist influence that we have allowed in our public schools at all levels. It is getting even worse year by year.

We are in danger of throwing away our heritage very rapidly. If the Democrats were allowed to defeat President Trump in 2020 it would be far more likely that we would rapidly become a nation like Canada and then like Europe. Then it continues downhill from there.

For almost a week now I've been tracking the coronavirus.  This morning I also commented about it over on an anon forum.  It was amusing to see my observations showing up in my morning news feed.

In your opinion.

While you are free to believe or not believe whatever you wish, I have little interest in being told what is "truth".

Instead, I prefer to evaluate and then re-evaluate, and then re-evaluate some more as new / different / supporting / contradictory information / opinions / facts are presented to be analyzed.

Personally I do the same re evaluation however on issues I cant seem to trust as fact I go by faith.... now let's try this sleep thing again lol

A suggestion ...

Research, and verify.

Don't just "believe".

I respect due diligence. I think its fair to say I've done more than the average person's research and verification in the subject .  I appreciate you looking out for your fellow man to not be in error. I think we share that quality but with a different perspective.

Beijing Economist: China GDP Growth Could Sink Below 5% Due To Coronavirus Outbreak

Update (1925ET): Though it still far outpaced all of its western rivals, China's annual GDP growth rate decelerated to its slowest level in 29 years last year, a factor, economists said, of the destabilizing trade war with the US.

Now, a senior economist with the Chinese government in Beijng is warning that annualized GDP growth for 2020 could dip below 5% if the virus isn't contained. This is based on an assumption that the virus will peak before March.

  • CHINA GOVT ECONOMIST ESTIMATES THAT IMPACT OF CORONAVIRUS ON CHINA'S ECONOMY COULD BE SIGNIFICANTLY BIGGER THAN THAT OF SARS OUTBREAK
  • CHINA GOVT ECONOMIST SAYS BEIJING LIKELY TO STEP UP POLICY SUPPORT FOR ECONOMY, WHICH COULD BOOST BUDGET DEFICIT TO OVER 3% OF GDP IN 2020
  • CHINA Q1 GROWTH MAY DIP BELOW 5% AS VIRUS SPREADS - GOVT ECONOMIST
  • CHINA GOVT ECONOMIST SAYS FORECAST BASED ON ASSUMPTION THAT VIRUS OUTBREAK WILL PEAK BY MID-FEBRUARY AND END BY END OF MARCH

Remember: China's econ data is notoriously unreliable. When they announce 7% growth, skeptics claim the reality is closer to 4%. A break below 5% could, in reality, be a break below 3%.

Such an announcement is hardly a surprise...

...but Beijing's promise to "step up policy support for the economy" means China will embark on another round of massive fiscal stimulus (at a time when economists have been begging Germany to consider loosening its purse strings to revive a sluggish Europe).

Governor Newsom Declares California A Coronavirus-Free Zone

SACRAMENTO, CA—Governor Newsom has declared California a coronavirus-free zone, instantly eradicating any threat of coronavirus infecting anyone in the state.

The executive action makes any possession of coronavirus a state felony.

"When you declare something illegal, it is instantly gone forever," Newsom said solemnly. "That's why I'm taking immediate executive action to declare the possession of coronavirus a felony at the state level. Top scientists all agree that the best way to get rid of something is to ban it."

"That oughtta do it."

Shanghai is on shutdown until Feb 10 most flights into and out of China are now suspended until further notice. 1st quarter in China could see a contraction in GDP. Hopefully China gets the upper hand fast.

It is much safer to stay at your home in Wuhan than to land in crowded quarantine facility.

Anyone flying from China to the UK face 2 weeks in quarantine when they land.

https://news.sky.com/story/coronavirus-mainland-china-cases-now-exceed-sars-as-death-toll-hits-132-11920542

Problem of staying in Wuhan is you cant stay indoors forever. Most businessmen/women will be in hotels, maybe they cant afford to stop there indefinitely and are willing to risk flying back, if they can get a flight that is.

I feel sorry for the aircrew who don't seem to have a choice.
