Is Pete Buttigieg emerging as the most likely challenger to Trump?

Recommended Posts

Having collected more fund raising money in the second quarter of the campaign than any of his peers is Pete Buttigieg the man to take on Donald Trump?

At 38 he doesn't represent the old guard Biden/Bloomberg/Sanders and is claiming to represent a bridge from the old politics to a modern era of American politics.

As a Brit I know very little about this guy, would be nice to get others opinions who are more informed than I am.

Another typical lefty who like Trump never found a budget he couldn’t bust wide open. Interesting he would increase defense spending. Lots of plans that require lots of money.

He'll fade.  He's the Howard Dean of this election cycle.  Real contenders: Sanders, Biden.  Warren loses to Sanders.

The Democrat to beat Trump is NONE OF THE ABOVE.

The DNC knows it.

You know there are talks going on for establishing a viable candidate against Trump.

The way the Dems Primary has changed from winner take all to a prorated share of the delegates assigned will assure no first vote winner with the Super Delegates (elite establishment Dems) taking control of deciding winner.

Maybe Mitt Romney will switch affiliation and run against Trump.

Worst nightmare is the return of Hillary. Don't count it out.

But you have to admit a Trump v. Hillary campaign would be the most entertaining election ever. The debates would beat all viewer records.

The banner ad at the top of the web page amused me.

Unfortunately.

He's 78, with coronary artery disease. He's a wealthy socialist. He would totally ruin America.

Surely the younger population will come to their senses at some point. If not, there's probably not enough of them to vote him in.

No matter what you feel about Trump, he's about the only viable candidate for the office at this dispositive point in time.

Trump isn't much younger.

I have no clue how American public see Warren, but I actually think that she could beat Trump. No opinion on whether her policies would be good or bad for America.

Why do you think Warren loses to Bernie?

I'm not sure, but I think the photo is anatomically correct.

She loses to everyone. Warren is Bernie lite. If you like Warren, then Bernie is "better"

Buttigieg is more attractive as a counter to Trump. But he has a CIA background. Which is better than Bloomberg who is on the record kowtowing to Beijing in hiding reporting on CCP leadership scandals. Biden is obviously past it, wouldn't win against Reagan's corpse.

Oh, and you don't understand the US public. Bet you were surprised by the UK Brexit vote as well as Trump's election.

Semi.

I have no doubts he will be re-relected though.

Why? I understand why she looses to bernie, but the few debates she reasonably composed when under attack and counters with arguments...

Anyways, this is just interest. Don't really care who wins.

Pete has views which are very close to all of the other candidates except Bloomberg. Bloomberg is a crony capitalist and very important globalist because of his extreme wealth. The rest are basically socialists but also globalists. The main difference is that Bernie Sanders is honest about what he is trying to do. I won't go into detail but have assembled a lot of information on all the major candidates in my topic Vetting the 2020 Presidential Candidates at https://docs.google.com/document/d/19dWQ1ucBsPQyj0WuVMfXmr6DTTeG8TwKbVuWE9_Rswg/edit

Biden is so done. A Sanders/Warren ticket would be a good one. Also a Bloomberg/Hillary ticket. Either would lose to Trump though IMHO. The people are beginning to understand that Trump is the man to help the average voter and that the rest are all socialists that will destroy the country eventually. They are also globalists which put Americans interest behind their dreams of one world socialism. My vetting topic has the details.

Bernie has a huge youth following of useful idiots. Many are "well educated" by socialist professors. Many just want free stuff of all kinds and to be taken care of by the government. This is a bad dream which has always failed.

Trump is about five years younger and is healthier. Bernie recently had a heart attack, which makes him a dubious choice for President even without all the other reasons. Bloomberg has had a stent but is probably healthier than Bernie. He is surely smarter but he is an elitist who favors an elitist globalist government. They are both Jewish which might lessen their chances also.

Polling shows Bernie and Petie well ahead of Pocahontas. Bloomberg is in the rear so far, but has promised to spend a billion dollars to win.

Call me naive but does American politics come down to who has the most money?

If so that's a sad indictment of your political system.

For some comic relief, after cleaning up last month's sock puppet fiasco here on the forum.

Sock puppet sh*t storm is brewing for Pete Buttigieg's campaign. Briefly, there is a Twitter account "Chinedu" in Nigeria that claims to be a big Pete Buttigieg supporter and has grown popular.  But it got busted as a sock puppet account of Pete's communication advisor "Lis Smith".  It was all a sock puppet stunt to make it seem like Pete is popular with black people.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sockpuppet_(Internet)

Today, Pete';s Communication advisor Lis forgot to sign out of her own Twitter account and posts from the Nigerian "Chinedu" sock puppet account.

Then, to make it worse, Pete's campaign then goes to Buzzfeed and somehow gets a reporter to write up an article about how this is just a crazy conspiracy theory.  The Buzzfeed "reporter" has "verified" the identity of "Chinedu"  by emailing the "Nigerian", who then promised that he wasn't Lis Smith, Pete's Communication advisor.  Which makes it even funnier.

Busted, and the Denial train wreck is bigger than the river in Egypt.

I think that in many voter’s minds, Warren is still tainted by her claim to be a native American. At the end of the day she lied to benefit herself.

As the old adage goes, ‘you have one chance to make a first impression’.
