So here's where it started through OP and Douglas Buckland, we spoke for a great deal of time March 2019, the car was bought as is seen and was transported to Juniors shop as you can see its very old school and mainly a bike shop, in reality we were storing it there. Never would we have stopped the two wheeled marvels to go to four, but now, its on. The photos are to give you a general idea of what I and now Doug and Dan and my Mechanic are up against. 

I have also thrown in a photo of and HRD Vincent a 1950s Rapide going through mechanical until we would then take the bike up the posh shop for dismantling, paint, chrome and finishing for client (photos I will post later)

Guess I should buy stock in WD40!

Are those headers salvageable! 

On most old Fords the distributor is on the front of the engine, not by the firewall. Need to look into this.

This is a 312 cu in Y-block out of a Thunderbird running dual carbs. This is what you are shooting for. Distributor IS in the back.

No the headers were just a mock up, going wait until we get it set up then have custom set made, they will be straight out shorts

Some people would look at those first photos and think you've started a junk yard!  Others see...potential!  Some real jewels, dude.  Let the stripping begin!

Just a hint....

Take tons of photos as you tear the car and engine apart....they will prevent much weeping and gnashing of teeth later!!!

I ride a blacked out Harley (from the factory) and hate chrome. Need to make this more of, but not a full on, rat rod. IMHO

When I see these kinds of places I see treasure and drool, you haven't seen anything yet wait till I show you the parts section behind this guys house.

We live in a very special time, indeed.  If you have an unserviceable part, you can find another one somewhere, or it can be copied and reproduced.  Have you guys experimented at all with 3D printing?  Just curious what's going on back in the West on that front.  Haven't lived there for a long time now.

See if you can download a Chilton’s Manual for ANY Ford model which ran a 292 Y-block. Since we are not sure of the year, and we know they were built in South America until 1980, just go for the latest you can find.

I don't know.  I'm more in favor of classic black with red interior.  Mag wheels and chromed up engine.  But that's just me.
