Adam Varga + 123 AV February 26, 2018 Research shows drones can deliver certain items faster and more important with less environmental impact than trucks which form part of a transport sector responsible for around of a fifth of the world’s greenhouse gas emissions. Vlad Kovalenko + 115 VK February 26, 2018 Well this could be really helpfull in reducing emissions especially knowing that transport is the biggest polluting sector.
Selva + 252 SP February 26, 2018 Drones could replace trucks in some deliveries but not completely. I mean idea is great looking from environmental side of this story, but it will be hard to expect drones to carry larger things. Trucks are still irreplaceable. Adam Varga + 123 AV February 26, 2018 Let's just say that Amazon and Google would make a big profit here.
Selva + 252 SP February 26, 2018 Drones are environmental friendly only if they are small. The results showed that delivering a small package by a regular quadcopter drone leads to lower carbon emissions than those delivered by even electric trucks. But using a large octocopter drone produces higher carbon footprint per package than trucks. We'll stick to truck a little bit longer.
Rodent + 1,424 February 26, 2018 This may be another tech idea that has laws lagging behind it. There have been multiple incidents with drones (including a hawk attacking one) , such as flying too close to aircraft and crash landing onto people. Perhaps we need to take this one a bit slower.
