First Nations Eye Bigger Stakes in Oil

First Nations in Alberta are vying for higher stakes in the local oil and gas industry by buying interests in oil wells and--the horror--in pipelines. Apparently, they are not as concerned about oil spill dangers as some Native communities south of the border. How dare they be practical?

But is it really impractical to be concerned about concern for the safety of your water supply?  South of the border the opposition wasn't just that the pipeline would run through reservation land, but precisely that it would run through a key water supply as far as I understand.
