Douglas Buckland + 6,308 April 5, 2020 To merge a few threads and to take off on a tangent, I would like to ask the question: How effective and timely would the response to the Corona Virus pandemic have been in a world which was weaning itself off of of oil and the products derived from it? This is not only from the logistics standpoint of moving medical personnel, equipment and supplies from point to point, but also from the standpoint of ramping up the production of ventilators, masks, gloves, etc...which are largely petroleum products. Furthermore, the industrial production lines being directed to retool to make ventilators are from the auto industry. These assembly lines would not have existed if it weren’t for oil.
