John Foote + 1,135 JF April 8, 2020 The US's own intelligence services also knew in early January. CCP is nobody's friend, and fundamentally incapable of being transparent. Nothing new there. What we can do to China has little to do with the virus, and putting to much blame on China for our missteps further impedes us. What we do is know who are dealing with (CCP), and avoid dependencies, and that goes way beyond COVID-19. Countries who is some ways know China best, Taiwan, S. Korea, what were they doing by late January/early March? We ignored a lot, and for an extended time. Is it easy to see why we didn't act, yes, but we were wrong not to act a lot stronger, sooner. COVID-19 is horrendous in many ways. Compare this to what Europe went through in the 20th century, two world wars and the Spanish flu which by some accounts bested both for death totals. Yet Europe stands. What was left of Japan in late 1945? Nobody is bombing our infrastructure. We will prevail, and if we are half smart about it, better positioned for the future than before.
