Greenland's ice is melting faster now because of some chain reaction below the caps. This means it could become more attractive as a mining destination as it seeks independence from Denmark. The Chinese already tried but the Danes, if I remember correctly, discouraged them. Now the push could intensify. The island is rich in all sorts of metals, notably rare earths.
