Marina Schwarz + 1,576 March 16, 2018 Amnesty International has accused Shell and Eni of negligence in handling oil spills in the Niger Delta. They studied almost 2,000 spill reports and said they found in 89 of them the cause given for the spill by the company was suspicious. However, it turns out that often the local communities don't let the companies come to the site of the spill. They wait for the damage to get greater so they can milk them for higher compensation. Really sad and desperate but they have no other income, apparently.
