jpl + 1 JP April 17, 2020 Under which circumstances could ETF's such as USO break down completely? What is the likelihood of that happening? In other words, will USO just look more and more attractive the lower it goes or is there some breakpoint where oil price is so low that it would be dangerous to enter USO? MikiMak 0 MM April 18, 2020 ETFs can technically go to zero but it would take a lot for it to get to that point.
Bob_W + 37 BW April 18, 2020 I'm not commenting on oil ETFs in particular, especially not USO. But ETFs do close and liquidate under certain circumstances. When their assets approach $0 for instance, when the ETF stops attracting buyers, or when operating the ETF becomes unprofitable.
