"You can take off the mask Doug, the base mortality rate's like point 1 to point 3 according to USC."

"Is it really?  That's reassuring."

"Everybody here's been vaccinated anyway.

"USC in LA county public health has come out with a study.  They found that there's 7,000 cases in California, but they really believe that there are anywhere between 221,000 to 442,000 people who were infected.

"Really?"

"Yeah."

"So that makes it zero point 1 to zero point 3?"

"Yup."

"Is the study come out < inaudible > ?"

"Yeah, just came in today."

"So it suggests that the case fatality rate is about of a tenth of what it seems to be."

"Puts it right in line with the flu."

"Yeah exactly that's what it is, the flu."

"So it's a hoax!"

"I don't think it's a hoax."

"Ha ha ha."

If this hot mic was left untended on the press conference table of Head of CCP, Comrade Xi, thousands of readers of this forum by now will be carrying their AK47, colts and shut guns marching behind General Steve Banon heading for Beijing.

But would they give a f.... to those poor Americans, New Yokers whose unclaimed bodies are still being offloaded and piled in mass graves in the Borough of the Dead and across the continent in their tens of thousands who died needlessly as a result of the mismanaged and uncontrolled covid-19 pandemic by their leaders, unaware and deprived of the vaccines provided for the Fake Leadership, Fake President, Fake Cabinet, Fake Press Conferences and Fake Press corps, Fake Media, waiting to cheat, ridicule, misinform, misdirect and scare the nation of the Empire?

I think NOT.

- Everybody here's been vaccinated anyway.

- they really believe that there are anywhere between 221,000 to 442,000 people who were infected.

- that makes it zero point 1 to zero point 3.  [mortality rate]

- So it suggests that the case fatality rate is about of a tenth of what it seems to be.

Indeed a few studies with limited testing of how many people have the antibodies does suggest this.   New York City has a population of 8.5 million,  Only the 500,000 so thousand families which are millionaires can self  quarantine  the other 7 million working class people are living on top of each other in tiny over priced apartments someone in the family has to ride the crowded subway to work.   There has been 10,344 deaths in New York City attributed to coronavirus.   If it is true the virus has a fatality rate of 0.2% then more than half of New York city has become immune, at about 60-70% herd immunity will kick in and the new cases should drop off a cliff in New York city..... ( if the mortality rate is .02%)

Coronavirus antibody testing shows LA County outbreak is up to 55 times bigger than reported cases

KEY POINTS
  • The Covid-19 outbreak in Los Angeles County could be up to 55 times bigger than the number of confirmed cases, according to new research from the University of Southern California and the LA Department of Public Health.
  • The data, if correct, would mean that the county’s fatality rate is lower than originally thought.
  • With just 4% of the population infected with the disease, LA County is still very early in the epidemic, said USC professor Neeraj Sood, who led the study.

The Covid-19 outbreak in Los Angeles County is likely far more widespread than previously thought, up to an estimated 55 times bigger than the number of confirmed cases, according to new research from the University of Southern California and the LA Department of Public Health.

USC and the health department released preliminary study results that found that an estimated 4.1% of the county’s adult population has antibodies to the coronavirus, estimating that between 221,000 adults to 442,000 adults in the county have had the infection.

This new estimate is 28 to 55 times higher than the 7,994 confirmed cases of Covid-19 reported to the county through early April. The number of coronavirus-related deaths in the county has now surpassed 600, according to the Department of Public Health. The data, if correct, would mean that the county’s fatality rate is lower than originally thought.

The results are based on antibody testing of about 863 people who were representative of LA County, the researchers said.

“Though the results indicate a lower risk of death among those with infection than was previously thought, the number of Covid-related deaths each day continues to mount, highlighting the need for continued vigorous prevention and control efforts,” said Dr. Paul Simon, chief science officer at the LA County Department of Public Health and co-lead on the study, in a statement.  ...

They have to. They can't risk a collapse economy just for the sake of pulling Trump's legs. Even they may have more views with people sitting at home but if the economy collapse, advertising and donation to Main Stream will be severely affected. They may lose job themselves or less hours. When the economy was great, they don't mind some decline of viewers because more advertising for consumer full wallets and political or foreign donations.

Yes, they always want a normal big recession, more people are forced to depend on benefit then and would not vote for Trump and blame Trump for their suffering. But Trump's performance in this Covid19 is faster than Italy or France or Spain so their arguments are weak. But a Recession without all Trump's fault: because of Covid19, because Russia and Saudi oil war etc  they don't want the economy collapse just to claim they are right. I wonder how is the funding for election this year.

So what explains all those bodies all over the world? It just might be a hoax for by the fake news to get better ratings. Or maybe these undead will come back as zombies and vote by mail for the real devils, the Democrats.

Not to mention (and trust me, the MSM will not mention) that 100% of the economic damage caused by the "quarantines" and "stay at homes" belong at the feet of the state governors who ordered them, not at Trump's feet where the MSM pretends he somehow ordered it. In fact, what Trump needs to do now is order California to go into full lock down so Newsom will do the opposite and open it the hell up.

The elderly have been the primary population to self quarantine, not just the rich. There are a lot more elderly than rich. A lot more people will die, mostly aged and/or with comorbidities. Deaths will not fall off a cliff but follow the rounded curve.

Trump is on record saying he will decide when to open the economy.  That strongly he implies he is/was currently fine with the closures.

We had a whole long thread titled "Why trump is right to reopen the economy"  People here praised his idea.

Sure the governors may have had the power all along, but Trump and others here made it sound like the POTUS was in control.

Trumps position is such a moving target.  Now it's time to shift the blame away to the states...

"President Donald Trump declared he has “total” authority to order states to relax social distancing to combat the coronavirus outbreak and reopen their economies, and warned that governors who refuse would face political consequences.

Asked what provision gives the president the power to open or close state economies, Trump said: “Numerous provisions. We’ll give you a legal brief if you want.”"

It's also possible he doesn't have the power, knows he doesn't have the power, and is using this as a way to tie up the legal resources and attack the economies of his opponents.  He would lose the legal battle, but only after inflicting damage.

I.e. this is a cheap way for Trump to cause headaches for his opponents.

Those are pretty much the conclusions I put up over the last week.

There has been an obvious underestimate of the contagion, and thus a severe overestimate of its fatality rate. It is a Flu order of magnitude, just that everyone exposed gets it vs. 20-30% for the Flu since there is no residual resistance from antibodies to other similar viruses.

I would not be that glib about getting Moderna's RNA vaccine. Still have no clue what it will do over time. There are already strains of the coronavirus with modifications to the S spike protein that is the target for most vaccines. .

There is the real possibility he had no idea of the governors' level of power.

So he is going to call the Democrat's and MSM and other Malthusian hangers on's bluff and cut off the quarantine.

There will be a great reckoning for the hysterical reaction by Dem governors in particular and for the maladvice given to the administration. I think the Ahithophels advising the administration on the shut down will be called out and hounded out of their positions. The WHO funding ban is just the start.

But the OP on this thread and this are "of a kind" and portend

1. an end of the quarantine earlier rather than later

2. that the end of it will be complete within a few months at the latest

3. that it will not be reimposed when there is a next breakout. And there will be one.

Actually, there may be--maybe not from antibodies but from T-cells. These days, the common cold is more apt to be due to a coronavirus than anything else, and those CV viruses have whole lengths of their genome that are "core" pieces. May explain why so many young people don't turn a hair when they get this.

Exactly what I had been arguing since late March, that there is no way they don't have a very large base of infections accrued during the anything goes period to Mar 16. The return of the spring breakers to Manhattan extended the extreme contagion period another week. I estimate that practically half of New Yorkers were infected by the time of the shelter in place order, and another quarter got the virus from their household within the next few weeks. By the time the quarantine lever was pulled, there was no point to it.

That was always the point. Trump gave guidelines, not orders, the governors did what they wanted. They wanted to destroy their economies in order to blame Trump for the damage and get more power as they distribute congressional money within their states.

He is reversing direction to opening up and removing the governor's discretion - which is not in his legal bag, but it does not matter. No governor is going to rely on Trump bailing them out financially if they don't follow his lead and let go. The financial damage to them already is putting at risk the Dem state's ability to fund payroll and pension liabilities at all. A default will put the states into receivership. That condition erases the myriad power broking union and regulatory deals that make up the entirety of the Democratic party machine. It would make the party non functional in all its key states. Trump pretty much declared that not following the opening up will cause him to block any assistance the states might seek from the Federal level.

That may be true, but not enough. This is a SARS virus, hardly anyone has exposure. Kids have high exposure rates due to intense physical proximity - hence it is kids who are "snot nosed". So they and their parents teachers and caretakers get exposed constantly. But if it were enough then in closed environments like prisons the penetration would be in the 40% range, but it isn't. It is in the 100% range within 2-3 weeks in each building, and both prisoners and staff. Thus it has to be a newly acquired resistance. And the kids do get it.

I.e. this is a cheap way for Trump to cause headaches for his opponents.

Bottom line, the President wants Americans back to work, out earning and spending money again, now.  No economic recovery begins without that step.  And most people will have a check with his name on it (a pesky detail/delay that will have legs in the coming discourse) to spend, giving him further ownership of any recovery from this deadly virus.  As usual, he hears the undercurrent of the people and believes they are ready, all they need is a vocal leader to bring them out.  He also knows his options and authority to directly make that happen are limited (no other president in history knows the power of a knowledgeable legal team more than this one), and besides, it is "yugely" risky for him to be responsible for bringing them back out, at ANY time.

So what does he do?  He uses the bully pulpit, the oldest political leverage in the book, to get the message out to his supporters (and others who just happen to want to get out and back to work) that the information he's receiving says it should be okay to end the isolation, and to save the economy they need to.  Further, he announces that he believes he has the authority over the Governors to make it happen (how many times does he get the opposition up in arms with this simple type of statement?).  What's that?  Is that a call to Patriots?  Paul Revere?  We're here, Mr. President!  (Cue the President warning of tough times ahead, but that Americans will rise to any challenge!)

  • Governors, desperately wanting to claim they are "powerful and in charge here" (after many perceived failures), wail ever louder that the President doesn't have the authority to lift the isolation; they do!  They are going to let the President and the people know it is they, the Governors, who called for the isolation and only they, the Governors, have the "power" to lift it.
  • Enough people agree that enough is enough, and go to their State Capitals to openly protest for their Constitutional rights.  The President quietly, respectfully, voices support for the people.  Good people.  Nice, peaceful, organized people, fighting for their rights.  (Dominos, anyone?)
  • Governors are now in a quandary, and their first rebuttals to these protests actually show they may have overstepped their legal authority.  True or not is immaterial at that point.
  • That shames the Governors, who are now worried about their reelection bids, into quickly announcing their (accelerated) plans to end the isolation.  They have just played right into the President's hand.  They have clearly taken responsibility for the lockdown and they have been shamed by the people into lifting it.
  • If the isolation is found to have been lifted too early and a second wave comes, it's on the Governors.  Trump will no-doubt point out that he wouldn't have done it that way.  "I think it was too soon, but the Governors were the ones with that difficult call".  "They made it clear I didn't have the authority".  In the unlikely event that no second wave comes, Trump can say he pushed the Governors to lift the isolation much earlier than they would have.

Mission accomplished.  But so much more has been accomplished.  Some Governors were recently seen to be tampering with voting practices (in-person vs mail-in, postponement, etc).  After the above scenario has played out, the Governor's motives can be called out as suspect at any time, at least through the next elections.  Donald J. Trump does not get sufficient credit, in my opinion, for his political savvy.  At least not from the Left.

As an aside, because people in other parts of the world have been avidly watching the U.S. for clues to reality, they have also started pushing back against their governments regarding isolation and loss of jobs/income.  Except in their cases it is their government that takes the role (above) of the Governors.

Latest CDC COVID-19 Numbers Make the Doom-and-Gloom Cult Look Like Complete Idiots

The CDC recently released coronavirus numbers from February 1, 2020 to April 18, 2020.

With each day it is getting harder and harder for these so-called experts to defend their complete destruction of the American economy.

Since February there have been 17,229 COVID-19 deaths.
Another 7,676 died from COVID-19 and pneumonia.

During this same time period 49,013 Americans died from pneumonia.

And then there is the age gap.
There were 20 deaths under the age of 25.
That comes out to 0.1% of all coronavirus deaths.

There were 13,518 deaths over 65 years of age.

There is no way in hell this justifies the complete destruction of the US economy.

When this is all over the good doctors and garbage IHME researchers will have a lot of explaining to do!

More from Alex Berenson…

The most recent age-stratified US #COVID death data, per @CDCgov: 3 deaths under 15, 510 deaths under 45 (approximately 190,000,000 Americans are under 45), 4,900 over 85. https://t.co/CFI8jZkpM5 pic.twitter.com/yOMa9Gm1uI

— Alex Berenson (@AlexBerenson) April 21, 2020

Here are the numbers via the CDC website:

How about we take what he says as something remotely close to the direct truth on occasion...
