BradleyPNW + 282 ES April 23, 2020 The OilPrice author, MICHAEL KERN, can only speculate because we're in the beginning phase of the COVID economy, as Angela Merkel explained in Germany today, "we are not living in the final phase of the pandemic, but still at the beginning." Despite claims to the contrary by the hugely uninformed we will be in lockdown for almost a whole year, maybe longer. Dumb governors like Georgia's Brian Kemp will re-open businesses and increase infection rates then he'll have to close it back down again to try to contain his mistake. Universities are already calling off the Fall semester and transitioning to online classes. And, of course, Donald Trump and the federal government are displaying their gross incompetence on live TV every single day. Therefore, Mr Kern's article is worthwhile speculation. Consumers and workers are learning a new way of conducting business and living life. We are adapting. We are developing new habits and comfort zones. As a result, oil demand could take a permanent hit from lifeway changes alone. https://oilprice.com/Energy/Crude-Oil/How-Working-From-Home-Will-Impact-Oil-Demand-Forever.html
BillKidd + 139 BK April 23, 2020 Who knows what is going to happen but I am leaning towards agreeing with it being a major paradigm shift, catastrophic in the way of oil demand. I am fearing oil being $30 or less for years, sure hope I am wrong, because seems to me that would wipe out most of the oil biz. If a small independent is not in the shale game, he is probably a stripper operator and I bet their operating costs are above $30. He can't survive by shutting in for several years. With the oil biz imploding, many banks will be in a world of hurt and that will have a ripple effect. Just think... what if there is no college football this year. Or NFL or NBA. No concerts, no going out for entertainment, no casinos. Until they get a vaccine. Ugh. I wish it weren't so and hope some bright minds figure something out! Doubtful, but we shall see soon enough. First rate way of absolutely destroying countries, businesses, workers, and people in general. Quarantining should be for SICK people, not for healthy people. Significant point. 1

That could work, Tom, if trump would get off his ass and get widespread testing in place as if this were a war.
