crudetruth + 3 KW March 23, 2018 Some really interesting charts out there showing that the energy sector has been experiencing surprising growth in earnings estimates, and if these figures are maintained until the end of the month it will be a major record. Other sectors, too, but energy is leading the way. But what doesn't look good is the fact that none of the big EPS gainers in the energy sector have seen anything good happen to their share price. So the big ones here are Marathon and Exxon. Marathon had the highest percentage gain in EPS, but a smaller gain in Exxon goes a lot farther given share price/market cap. What I'm interested in here is what this means for the rest of the year? If you look at finance, they're the third biggest EPS gainers this quarter, by sector, but their share prices show that. Also interesting that among the top 10 on analysts buy lists, not a single energy company shows up: 2
