MBS, as the prince is commonly known, could hardly have missed the dire implications, for himself and his family. As Trump has put it, with characteristic crudeness, the kingdom's rulers "might not be there for two weeks" without U.S. military backing.

Shell CFO says oil will never return to pre virus crisis demand levels. That may be because they are heavily weighted toward natural gas over crude, or she might be correct. Goldman Sachs is very bullish on Brent in 2021. Interesting. Gotta tow the line if you want to be lead manager on a couple of Hundred Billion dollars in Saudi debt offerings over the next couple of years. Just my opinion. Moody's downgraded Saudi Arabia to Negative. They project Saudi revenue down 33% this year and 25% next year. Going to be tough couple years for all. Still Brent and WTI shouldn't be trading in $20's. It will move up. Economy going to get going albeit slowly. Oil price depends on how much demand returns in what timeframe. All projections are but guesses. My guess $40 to $45 by December, given coronavirus is under control. Worst case scenario we get a second more deadly second wave as seen during Spanish flu in 1918. Coronavirus is an RNA virus that is prone to mutation. Nothing is certain. PS : Story of Trump threatening Saudis doubtful. What the US needs is for the ME oil not to fall into Chinese hands. If Saudi control does not work in US' favor, it can be US+Japan and whomever else other than China/Russia that controls it.
BradleyPNW + 282 ES May 7, 2020 No one listens to Trump. He's a carnival barker and they all know it. After Donald's performance during the COVID crisis (inject bleach, etc.) no one looks to the USA for leadership. 1
John Foote + 1,135 JF May 8, 2020 Aramco is now looking to borrow $100 billion, partly to buy SABIC, which is a laugh since the country already owns it. But also to pay upcoming dividends. And to to think no one listens to Trump is ludicrous. That a significant part of the world thinks a coarse buffon, yes, but there is nobody with even a tiny bit of functioning gray matter than doesn't accept he affects things. BradleyPNW + 282 ES May 8, 2020 I'm happy to rephrase, no one follows Trump's lead on anything. Trump withdrew from Paris Accord, no one followed. Trump withdrew from TPP, the other members started up without the USA. The USA is no longer a superpower because we've lost soft power influence. Fortunately, US soft power influence will eventually return after Trump and the GOP enablers are kicked the curb in November.
