Where are we with Super Crystals?

Amid the solar doom and gloom ... anyone have any idea where we really are with perovskite, or super crystals? I see a lot of reports about increased efficiency, and another that Japan is two years away from a 'solar revolution' using perovskite, but I still don't see any clear evidence that this could be proven up and commercialized anytime soon ...
