Its not like it was ever built by US money, just money they borrowed from the rest of the world. 

Rigghhhttttt....the US oilfield only borrows money. I suggest you research Phillips Petroleum/Ekofisk and find out who fronted the money for the third exploration well that discovered the Ekofisk field, and by extention, the North Sea fields.
