Marina Schwarz + 1,576 April 11, 2018 Vanadium, a metal usede in batteries, is waiting for its "Elon Musk moment", that is, a businessperson of the magnitude of Musk to promote it. Here's a quote from an Australian vanadium miner's managing director: "The industry needs a Tesla Inc. or Panasonic Corp. to say “we like vanadium-flow batteries and we want to make them in addition to lithium-ion batteries.” Apparently, vanadium-flow batteries could be a big thing. From here.
dowmike + 37 ML April 11, 2018 I've looked into this before. I guess it has great stabilizing battery potential but no one's putting enough money into it so for now it's still way to expensive to try to commercialize. Any indications at all that Musk is interested in vanadium? 1
Seleskya + 50 AS April 11, 2018 and while it's waiting for its "Musk Moment", the latest on spot prices: The European ferro-vanadium market retreated last week while traders sold cheaper in order to take profits amid quieting spot demand.
Stormysaga + 62 AB April 11, 2018 It seems to me it's not just possible Musk moment but any other big player in battery market moment. These are just their wishes. They have potential but no one yet to invest into it. It seems to me it's not just possible Musk moment but any other big player in battery market moment. Could be anyone else big in batteries.
