pinto + 293 PZ April 11, 2018 We could agree about one thing(I hope)- cities are becoming too big for humans to manage. Tokyo is host of Olympic Games 2020 and in the government’s vision for the Olympics, robot taxis transport tourists across the city, smart wheelchairs greet Paralympians at the airport, ubiquitous service robots greet customers in 20-plus languages, and interactively augmented foreigners speak with the local population in Japanese... Singapore is a “smart city”. Its government is experimenting with robots as physical extensions of existing systems to improve management and control of the city. It sees robots and automated systems as a “natural” extension of the existing smart urban ecosystem. Dubai is another emerging prototype of a state-controlled smart city. Dubai is intensively robotising public services with the aim of creating the “happiest city on Earth”. Urban robot experimentation in Dubai reveals that authoritarian state regimes are finding innovative ways to use robots in public services, transportation, policing and surveillance. Probably list of "robots cities" during the time will be longer. And, in one hand, robots are demonstrating the role of the state in envisioning and creating that future. franco + 96 FM April 11, 2018 Crazy Japan. If you can't find a Buddhist priest for a funeral there is a robot for that. He reads Buddhist scriptures at funeral ceremonies. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DFv-XCwgLBg

Adam Varga + 123 AV April 11, 2018 Only human emotions and empathy could find their place on funerals. Doesn't seem an appropriate time for robot replacement.
