cryptocurator + 17 AN April 13, 2018 Anyone have a chance to see Shell's new Energy Transition Report? Lots of interesting stuff here and a very clear transition to renewables. Worth picking this one apart. https://www.shell.com/energy-and-innovation/the-energy-future/shell-energy-transition-report.html
Rodent + 1,424 April 13, 2018 Shell said it will still sell the oil and gas the society needs, while adapting its portfolio to lower-carbon energy, “when this makes commercial sense.”
cryptocurator + 17 AN April 16, 2018 Yep, now is the prep stage, but all the big boys will be ready when the 'commercial sense' time arrives. I think this report sort of defines how everyone should be thinking. Yes, a big change is coming, but like all change, there is a significant transition period. Not just this juvenile thinking along the lines of "oil bad, renewables good" and then a bunch of politics on both sides. It's a process.
TraderTate + 186 TS April 17, 2018 also said: That potential future: By 2050, renewables could overtake oil, gas and coal as the primary energy source; by that date, it could be “impossible” to purchase a new internal combustion car; and by 2070, there could be 10,000 carbon capture plants operating globally.
