I lived in Texas for about 5 years (granted in Dallas and Austin) until recently, and I almost all the Republicans I knew were old(er) folks and white. Targeting those demographics made sense for the Republicans short term, but are disastrous long term, given the diversity of the next future largest group: the millennials, some of who are heading towards 40 (like me). Many of those people see the Republicans as out of touch, even in Texas. I have libertarian tendencies in a lot of things, but what I find absolutely detestable is the xenophobic nativist turn (I say this is a minority myself and the son of immigrants) the Republicans have seemly run towards ever since 2016 (instead of the 2012 plan to revamp the party to make it a bigger tent). The Republicans can't run as the "white people party" forever. That is what a lot of people, for better or worse think about Republicans. They will to change and elect a new generation of leaders who make inclusivity one of their main campaign focuses. American politics desperately needs to get out of a death spiral of polarism. We need more RINOs and DINOs in office. We have too many RINO's and virtually no DINO's. Actually the party should now be called the Socialist Democratic Party. I Just call them the Demoncrats. It fits. I am largely Hispanic, my grandmother was a native Spanish speaker. I am also part Apache, French, Irish, Portuguese, Sicilian, and Black. Just call me an American. We would be better off if we just called ourselves Americans IMHO. I am for saving America and traditional American values. Denzel Washington has many great videos on youtube.com about his philosophy attributed to his wise father who had a third grade education. Yoshiro Kamamura + 274 YK July 27, 2020 (edited) Here, directly from an ex-war reporter, ex policeman, or whoever he was, but definitely a former Trump voter (until Trump wiped his backside with the Constitution by abusing federal troops as shock troopers), but definitely a southerner whose analyses go surprisingly deep. His topic? Which party better fulfills the spirit and letter of the Constitution My favorite part - "Common defense. Wear your masks! My mask protects you, your mask protects me! It's your constitutional duty in this case to wear a mask!" At least someone gets it. Edited July 27, 2020 by Yoshiro Kamamura

By the way, I think it’s time that you demonstrated exactly how we’re racist or “scared of brown people” as opposed to “fewer drugs and crime”. Go on. Did you criticize Donald and the Republican congress of 2017-2018 for failing to reform immigration when they controlled the legislative and executive branches? Because Donald campaigned on Build the Wall in 2016 and then on fear of migrant caravans invading the US from Mexico during the 2018 midterms. When Republicans campaign like that but don't produce rational immigration reform when they have power it makes their supporters look super racist.

I was heavily critical of the Republican Party at the time, and especially then Speaker of the House Ryan, a turncoat of the first order. If I were stupid I would use the kind of pretzel logic you employ to pretend that the guy pushing for the legislation is somehow also the guy responsible for it failing. Trump was back stabbed by the republican RINOS who figured they could control this Mr Smith Goes to Washington character and capitalize on his popularity while denying his agenda, substituting their own, or none at all. Then they deservedly got their assess handed to them in the midterm elections. Democrats don't punish their representatives like that, because they're all too brain dead to see what's going on. This quote is the very definition of simplistic (and stupid) world view. Your definition of "rational immigration reform" includes, no doubt, that all the illegal immigrants, er I mean undocumented democrats, get immediate citizenship and of course, voting rights. Oddly enough, the instantly wiped from the table republicans aren't on board with that. One thing I'll say for Demoncrats, they may be evil but they sure are transparent. 1

Rational policy means balancing an issue with the help of subject matter experts and ongoing review rather than mindlessly repeating demagogues who claim Mexican immigrants are rapists, criminals, and drug dealers. You're welcome.

You're welcome. You're mindlessly repeating a lie. No one ever claimed Mexican immigrants were rapists etc. What was stated, with evidence is that illegal immigrants coming across the Mexican border had among their number some bad eggs. But in your jingoistic mentality and your easily programmed propaganda belief system, you believe the lie and discard the truth, while smearing the "other" for being deceitful. You're a credit to your masters, they're pulling your strings perfectly and since you have no critical thinking skills, you're happy about it. Well only as happy as as person like you can be with your empty existence made palpable by haunting forums where you are disliked, pooping in the punch bowl and wondering why you don't get invited to more parties. 1 1
