Kate Turlington + 44 KT May 10, 2018 So, this is a new twist I wasn't aware of earlier. The Yemeni island of Socotra has now been sucked into the war, but this time it's a power play between Saudi Arabia and UAE. So that makes two battlefields for these Gulf allies (the other is over the ports in Somalia). Apparently, the UAE is trying to annex it for a military outpost, and they've reportedly kicked out the Yemeni military.
Tom Kirkman + 8,860 May 11, 2018 Seems that both Yemen and Somalia have physical locations that are coveted by other nearby countries. Reminds me of the old saying about the 3 things that matter in New York City real estate ... Location, Location, Location.
TraderTate + 186 TS May 11, 2018 Interesting to see how UAE-Saudi relations develop. Not sure how much further Saudis can overstep in the GCC without crippling (after Qatar). UAE seems to feel now that it has carte blanche to take on their Saudi allies. But word on the street is that Abu Dhabi isn't at all happy with Saudi policy, via this (keeping in mind that this is a Qatari-controlled publication): https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2018/04/diplomatic-leaks-uae-dissatisfied-saudi-policies-180417083917746.html
