If you see an American breaking into your car, try blaming the US.

Same goes with technology "theft" by China.  Most of that is crooked Americans selling the tech to China.  The actual thieves are American. Likewise, those cars that get shipped overseas were likely stolen by an American trying to make a buck.

Good Grief?  You almost said Technology theft by China is done by Americans.  OH WAIT!!   You did say that.  And now I wonder what your defense will be when someone accurately accuses you of being a shill for China?  An American made me do it??

Where do you get your "facts"? If you actually bother to do any actual research, you will find out that 5G is something Huawei developed first and the rest of the world cannot supply -

In terms of patents, Chinese belong to the top 3 leading countries.

1) 5G standard was developed in the US a half decade ago.   Yes, every nation that matters was part of the standard rubber stamping... That is all it is, a set of standards.  Nothing fancy about it.  Everyone can build to the standard.  Whether your nation communication companies chooses to build to 5G is another matter.

2) Patent applications do not equal patents nor do they equal patents which create $ needing protecting.    Likewise almost no research is being done in the patent award process for duplicity anymore and has not been present going on 20 years now.  Started In the 90's they tried, but with the influx of the computer "patents" via sofftware, everyone has just given up and now it bled to the hardware side of manufacturing and if you go on to USPTO.gov and pick any patent (domestic or international)or nearly any patent, and then search for like minded terms, I guarantee you will find identical patents with identical claims.   Look up stink free toilets would be a great example... Been patented well over 100 times yet patents keep being awarded for the same thing via the simple solution of putting a fan attached to the toilet in some fashion.  Want another example?  Batteries have gobs of patents... pick a specific battery chemistry type or sub type yet they all use exactly the same chemistry and internal structure yet the patents are being awarded...  it is insane.

2a) Most patents today are absurd jokes... colors, shapes of icons etc in the computing world.  Those are not patents at all, not to mention you change one pixel and patent is invalid or one line of code to do it slightly different.  Now add that patent violation is rampant around the world spearheaded by China, so why bother to file an international patent when you know it is $$$ down the shitter?  Only reason; if you sell to nations which uphold common law and justice, then and ONLY then do you file an international patent.  Otherwise you are wasting your money.  Want to know who has the most number of absurd patents?  Canon... They have more patents than anyone else in the world... 99% of which are nothing, Samsung is next and then some nameless Chinese company which does its electrical grid of CHINA!!!.....  Name one thing they have actually invented...   I'll wait...  PS: Top patent filer from the USA with roughly half as many?  IBM and they have been in business 3X as long.

2b) Japan/China are running patent houses who do nothing all day/week/month/year other than read patents as they are awarded and then try placing claims around the patent in question.  Pick any patent, assuming you can find a base patent, and then do a search specific to Japan/China origin 1 year later and you will quickly learn that most "Japan/Chinese patents" are not patents at all, but trying to claim block the original patent owner.

Are you having delusions again?

Shares of solar stocks jumped big on Friday after two positive earnings reports. Investors have been wondering how far the solar industry's demand had fallen in the second quarter of 2020 and the answer may be that it actually grew. https://www.fool.com/investing/2020/08/07/why-solar-stocks-jumped-double-digits-today.aspx

Today is a big day for solar power, as solar panel installer SunPower (NASDAQ: SPWR) begins its life independent from the division that used to manufacture the solar panels it installs, which is now known as Maxeon Solar Technologies (NASDAQ: MAXNV). Can you read?  You just quoted an INSTALLER who PURPOSEFULLY got rid of their manufacturing side. If you can't manufacture the panels at a profit, you can't install at a profit either.  And no one cares about a week of performance.  Try year after year.  And your genius MAXNV dropped... And your installer is only 1/3 of its high...

Thanks, I agree it is genius how easy it is to show that your claim is absolutely wrong. If you invested in solar index a year ago you would have a big gain. If you invested in oil index last year you have a big loss.  And the same is true if you invested 5 years ago.

May I suggest you leave this economic stuff to others and stick to your strengths - giving a 100 year old tractor a rim job.

The most useful idiots are those who parrot the propaganda of big oil companies.

A properly educated person understands that it is possible to survive without fossil fuels - after all, civilized human societies managed for thousands of years. However, it is not possible to survive without drinkable water, non-poisoned food and arable land.

How about you think about it for a while instead of parroting your usual litanies about "socialists, greenies and globalists".

If our children and their children will survive the environmental holocaust your "head-in-sand" generation brought upon them, it will be thanks to "greenies".

I agree with everything stated above. Thirty years ago the United States Government assisted in helping me with my four patents on GPS. Unfortunately most Countries consider our patent Office as a license to steal! In addition due to some law passed to allow the U.S. Entry into the WTO we U.S. Citizen's are NOT allowed to sue a Sovereign Nation for Intellectual Property Theft. In addition, its not possible to sue a retail establishment for importing goods made from Stolen Intellectual Property. In short I have a Legal Writ from a U.S. Federal Court Stating the CCP owes me $6 Billion. That was the IP theft up until the time my patents expired. In the meantime enjoy the GPS gadgets all of you are enjoying.

My message to anybody listening. DON'T BOTHER BLOWING $10,000 IT TAKES TO PATENT ANYTHING!

Unfortunately trade secrets are the way forward.

In all fairness, Arthur C. Clarke invented the global positioning system.

The US military ran with it once they got the satellites figured out, and they added "jitter" to the output signal so enemies couldn't use our tech against us. I even worked on chips to handle the jitter decades ago, and about the time we were going to release a product the US government gave up and removed the error inducing signal.

That all sounds incredibly fishy.  GPS tech is well over 40 years old and was developed by the military. Even if you worked on it the IP would be owned by the military.

100% not true.  IF black box project patents are still awarded, just they are blank and yes, you do OWN them and NOT the military.  Military, US Gov owns ZERO patents.  Father has such patents(lots of them from INS accelerometers etc), Brother is in Satellites, I went commercial aerospace and then wind turbines and then gas  turbines.  Brother in law is also in Military, but not black box... well half of it is not black anyways.

Many lawyers make money arguing over if tiny differences are significant.

One of my more entrepreneurial chemistry professors said "If you want fame in academic circles publish and patent your discoveries.  If you want to make money, keep them to yourself and start a business."

Its a scam.  Epic scam.  Most of them do not check the patent office and the patent office themselves do not check.  See my stink free toilet example.  Claims are verbattim equal on 10's of the patents going back to early 1900's.  I use this example when teaching young engineers.  Claims count, diagrams, description of patent does not and that is where MOST of the $$$ goes to the lawyers and it is 100% useless as they are SUPPOSED to be checking claims and previous claims.  They check some and then give up as they are not paid by the hour as most are a flat fee... Higher costs pays by the hour and then what you get is WORD SALAD indecipherable by any human being all of which miss the basic patent claim as they word smith 6 trillion ways on same claim and STILL do not do the work of checking.  WHY?  That requires TIME, and an engineering mindset.  Paying anyone to do this instead of doing it yourself is beyond stupid unless you think you can spend same amount of time working overtime to pay some idiot so called "patent lawyer" to do your work for you.

PS: Using the USPTO.gov website is VERY easy.

PPS: IF you have an actual GOOD patent, they will steal it anyways and count on the fact the court system will take forever or you will run out of $$$/patience and settle out of court.  Meanwhile you are screwed and the fat cats come in and take it.  Or you essentially fight court battles till the patent runs out.  Court system is there for the lawyers and their judge buddies who used to be lawyers, not for the individual.

You are 100% wrong as usual.

The federal government, through the operation of government-owned research facilities, research grants to universities and procurement contracts with private industry, funds almost 50% of the national R&D effort. Because of this enormous funding, the federal government has the most United States patent rights. It is estimated that the government has title to over 30,000 patents and annually files several thousand new applications. The government also has rights to nonexclusive, irrevocable, royalty-free licenses in thousands of patents. In addition, the government has a myriad of other patent rights. Examples include march-in rights, rights to require the owner to license others, rights to require licensing of background patents, rights to approve assignments, rights to limit terms of license agreements and reversionary ownership rights.
