Jay McKinsey + 1,490 August 16, 2020 (edited) A special announcement for those lamenting the imminent demise of the Tesla California investments: Tesla has taken delivery of the world’s biggest casting machine and it is installing it outside under a carport-like structure at Fremont factory. With the Model Y, Tesla has introduced some important underbody engineering and manufacturing improvements. CEO Elon Musk said that Tesla managed to turn what was originally 70 parts in Model 3’s rear underbody into just 2 parts in the Model Y electric SUV. Fewer parts facilitate the body assembly process and create fewer potential failure points. It results in a less expensive and more durable product. https://electrek.co/2020/08/15/tesla-world-biggest-casting-machine-outside-fremont-factory/ Edited August 16, 2020 by Jay McKinsey

Texas doesn't even allow Tesla to sell their cars in Texas. Very friendly and freedom oriented indeed.
Jay McKinsey + 1,490 August 16, 2020 Welcome to business friendly Texas: Texas loves to mess with Tesla. The Lone Star State has a long history of blocking Tesla’s attempts to sell cars there. Since 2013, Texas lawmakers have refused to take up four bills allowing direct car sales in the state (rather than forcing the automaker to rely on dealerships). To twist the knife, Texas also blocked Tesla buyers from receiving the state’s $2,500 alternative-fueled-vehicle incentive since the cars are not sold in dealerships. Now it appears Texas wants to prevent manufacturers like Tesla from servicing its vehicles as well. Electrek reported on a new bill (SB 1415) that would prevent manufacturers like Tesla from fixing cars at its own service centers. Republican senator Kelly Hancock’s proposed legislation alters language in the state’s transportation code to ban vehicle manufacturers from “servicing” and “repairing” cars. https://qz.com/1574917/texas-may-pass-a-law-preventing-tesla-from-fixing-its-own-cars/

I imagine that changes very quickly if not already. Texlas will be shooting out of the 3D printers in 3, 2, 1... (lol)
