Marcin2 + 725 MK December 31, 2020 (edited) While people keep underestimating China and stay in denial of the facts, the Middle Kingdom is on the fast path to build the largest global urban ecosystem. At present 880 million people live in fast developing and integrating Chinese cities, with 1 billion (with 'b') estimated in 2030. Country of 1 billion urban dwellers (3 times current total US population) living mostly in large cities with sophisticated services and manufacturing is a sure candidate for global hegemony. Modern infrastructure (urban transit is just a prime example) is a base for development of these cities, to make them hospitable for their dwellers. And New York is still on the list on 8th position. If the Chinese building frenzy continues with the current pace, New York will leave the list about 2025-20208, when all top 20 positions will be held by Chinese cities.
