Rodent + 1,424 May 24, 2018 https://lta.reuters.com/article/idLTAL2N1SV1LX?rpc=401& Maduro said that blaming him for Venezuela’s economic meltdown was a “stupid simplification.” And he pledged to boost oil production and open dialogue with business leaders. Is anyone holding their breath?

Jan van Eck + 7,558 MG May 25, 2018 The people of Venezuela, those that can still walk, are doing a 130-mile march to the South into Brasil, to seek sanctuary and food. Five thousand a day. It has now gotten so bad that 90% of the population is in destitution and starving. 90%! The place can no longer be turned around without a US-led Marshall Plan. Unfortunately, to do that the military would have to invade and occupy the country, in order to have a framework of stability. You would have to bring in Navy ships stuffed with bakeries to bake bread, and army trucks to distribute the food to the favelas and barrios. Then you have to bring in the tech people to get the oilfields running, and more tech people to re-start agricultural and resource production. And you have to bring in a new currency, as there is no mechanism of exchange today other than barter. Can all this be done under a Trump Presidency? Not with all the turmoil in the Cabinet. No way. So how does all this end up? Sadly, I predict mass starvation. Figure on one million dead. Or more.
