Unless they extend the agreed life of the few remaining geriatric coal fired stations in the UK past 2025 then no. Coal as a generating fuel is history.

To be fair with the dearth of baseload in the UK with nuclear closures I can forsee an extension being granted unless Boris wants to go all Texas on us.

Even Japan quietly began building new coal plants when they needed the power. We'll see if the UK does the same.

nope. We are building loads of interconnections. Easier  to impoter the electricity fromeurope than the coal . 

Anyway we should have 3.2Gw hinckley nuke but 2026 and perhaps some smr's by 2030
