Even Japan quietly began building new coal plants when they needed the power. We'll see if the UK does the same.

nope. We are building loads of interconnections. Easier  to impoter the electricity fromeurope than the coal . 

Anyway we should have 3.2Gw hinckley nuke but 2026 and perhaps some smr's by 2030
