The mining matchmaker Mick Davis closed his fund that was supposed to be a big thing in mining, with not one single deal made. He seems a bit bitter that everyone's too busy returning cash to shareholders. But just the other day Sibanye bought Lonmin, so there's still space for M&As as the industry recovers.
