Regarding Trump, we now move into the civil and criminal prosecution phase, and Trump is already the subject of at least two criminal investigations that we know about, and I wonder if Trump will be able to wear a bright red tie with his orange jumpsuit?

It is interesting that the most senior elected GOP official in the country is effectively leading the "Lock him up" chant.

In my opinion, Trump should be prosecuted for depraved indifference murder in regard to the January 6th attack on the Capitol, and a former federal prosecutor thinks that Trump should be charged with depraved indifference murder in regard to his actions and inactions regarding the pandemic.  

Regarding the January 6th attack, to the extent that it could be established that Trump was effectively a felony co-conspirator with the mob--and note that he picked the date,  time and place of the assault that resulted in multiple fatalities and heavily publicized it--I wonder if he and a large part of the mob could be jointly charged with first degree felony murder?

This will most likely be Donald Trump's focus for the next few years, IMHO.  The Dems have laid open the gates for any and all investigations of anyone in government, or in past governments.  Donald Trump has the supporters, the resources and, shall we say, the appetite for such endeavors.  And he can take the heat off of conservatives in office by doing it largely from outside the government.  That means they can, and IMHO will, pursue them with criminal charges, not some petty government slap on the wrist.

As to all his many legal problems, Mr. Trump didn't murder anyone and he didn't tell anyone to go harm anyone else--the trial was bogus, nothing more than a show trial. Criminal liability? I'd think very hard before trying to make that case--it might just backfire. Real estate transactions? Mr. Trump is no stranger to the real estate courts. 

No matter how Mr. McConnell and others try to spin this, Mr. Trump remains very much the most commanding figure in the Republican Party. He will soon have his own bully pulpit . . . and we all know how that goes. His supporters aren't limited to thugs and crazies; most are folks who are just fed up with the Deep State and exactly what they're seeing now from Mr. Biden. By the end of four years, we're going to need to increase the number of vomitoriums by 5-fold, the way Mr. Biden is ruining America. 60 presidential authority declarations in 20 days?

It really doesn't matter how much agitprop is posted here on oilprice.com--that affects no one. As we saw in the months leading up to the 2016 election, social media is the platform on which public figures grow their popularity and get their messages out. That worked just fine for Mr. Trump. No matter how Mr. McConnell and others try to spin this, Mr. Trump remains very much the most commanding figure in the Republican Party. He will soon have his own bully pulpit . . . and we all know how that goes. His supporters aren't limited to thugs and crazies; most are folks who are just fed up with the Deep State and exactly what they're seeing now from Mr. Biden. By the end of four years, we're going to need to increase the number of vomitoriums by 5-fold, the way Mr. Biden is ruining America. 60 presidential authority declarations in 20 days?

It really doesn't matter how much agitprop is posted here on oilprice.com--that affects no one. As we saw in the months leading up to the 2016 election, social media is the platform on which public figures grow their popularity and get their messages out. That worked just fine for Mr. Trump. In the last election, the news was not only censored by the likes of CNN, MSNBC, NBC, NYT, WaPost, but finally, in desperation, by the social media platforms as well. When the whole world is piling on and you have lost your voice, things can get a bit cockeyed. 

I think Telegram will soon have an incredible audience. Soon we'll see that in America, censorship doesn't work.

Trump would be brilliant to purchase such a medium. Analysts in 2016 credited Trump with single handedly rescuing Twitter from oblivion. He had 80 million followers on twitter for most of his Presidency. They tried to pretend that there were celebrities with more, but simple analysis showed those were largely fictitious, zombie and bot accounts. If Trump starts his own version or joins Gab, Big Tech will be forced to use blatant means to try and silence him. In that effort they will ultimately fail, and our themselves as the fascists they clearly are to the remnant of us population who haven't figured it out yet.
