nikb999 0 NB March 4, 2021 Hello, I am working on a consulting assignment to develop an order of magnitude estimate for the materials required for an off-shore oil well. So far, I have come up with the following: Assumptions: Drill depth: 10,000 ft; Water depth: 2,000 ft Primary materials required: - Casing tubes: 10,000 ft x 3 (multiple layers) - Riser tubes: 2,000 ft x 2 - Cement: 8 sacks / ft = 80,000 sacks x 94 lb/sack = 7,520,000 lbs - Mud: 6,000 barrels - Fuel: 3,500 gallons/day x 60 days - Water: ___ - Others (well head, etc.) I understand that each well is different and the engineering designs are needed to determine the materials correctly. Questions for the group: - Do the estimate seem reasonable? - Am I missing something major? Thanks
