hemanthaa@mail.com + 64 March 8, 2021 Saudi Arabia is under constant attack by Houthi rebels from Yemen and they come in the form of explosive-laden drones and missiles. The level of sophistication is worrying and the Houthis did not seem to have honoured their part of the deal for delisting from the terror list by the US. Even the most protected oil facility in Saudi Arabia was not safe anymore; the attack on Sunday targeting it and launched from the sea. Saudi-led coalition will certainly blame it on the US for its policy reversal; they, however, need the US - and its weapons - to protect them from these missiles. In short, the coalition needs the US much more than the opposite; not every nation in the West have the technology to intercept oncoming missile and shoot them down in time. Then, why did Saudi Arabia raise the oil price for Asia and the US? Is it just knee-jerk or clever business acumen? Only time will tell.
