At least in early 2010s a lot of people thought it would be worse than the tar sands. I think the sheer success of tight oil killed oil shale for the moment in the United States. If ever tapped one can only imagine the yields it might produce...a endless source of NG to meet any and all power needs to heat up the sands and there rewards...
