Bob D + 562 RD April 12, 2021 LNG is liquid at -260 degree Fahrenheit. You hand would likely freeze off trying to ignite it.
ronwagn + 6,290 April 13, 2021 As it evaporates, it can start, but would have to be contained in a limited area. Outdoors it would float away. It is safe compared to gasoline but vehicle explosions can occur but they are rare. NGV vehicle tanks are often placed on the roof but there are still fuel lines to the engine. Dan Clemmensen + 1,011 April 13, 2021 Technically speaking, no. LNG must evaporate to form gaseous methane. Pure methane is also not technically an explosive because it does not include an oxidant. When methane is mixed with air, the mixture is explosive. A properly-constructed FAE (fuel-air-explosive) bomb can produce a very large explosion. A house full of natural gas from a leak can explode. But a tank full of LNG will not explode.
