you are living in the past, Luddite

times are changing fast

in less than 6 months EVs are now over 7% of the vehicles on the road and fossil fueled.........less than 93 % are clunkers ......in less than a year EVs sales doubled in China

at this pace clunkers will be less than 50 percent of the vehicles on the road in China in less than 7 years

clunkers are being scrapped on a mass scale

and the EVs are now a majority of sales

At the end of June, China's NEV ownership reached 24.72 million vehicles, accounting for 7.18 percent of the total vehicle ownership of 440 million, according to data released today by China's Ministry of Public Security (MPS).

https://cnevpost.com/2024/07/08/china-nev-ownership-25-million-jun-2024/

as of the end of June 2024, China's BEV ownership amounted to 18.134 million vehicles, accounting for 73.35 percent of the total NEVs. China's new energy-vehicle (NEV) ownership continues to grow, as penetration approaches 50 percent.6 days ago

https://cnevpost.com/2024/07/12/china-2024-nev-sales-expected-11-5-million-caam/

A total of 11.5 million units means that China's NEV sales will exceed the 10 million mark for the first time in 2024, representing a growth rate of 22 percent.2 days ago

No, your numbers are crazy. As usual.

And China is now developing new generation fossil fuel vehicles for the masses...I guess you just forgot about that?

Your "projections" are totally removed from reality, you should look at some real numbers of what actually has happened for a change.

In China, in the first half of 2024 there were 16.8 million new sales of which 4.3 were new vehicle (including hybrids).

That is about 25% of the new market. Not anywhere near 60%.

Plugin EVs would be about 75% of that, or about 20% of the new market.

The last time I looked, 20% is much less than 60%.

And of the total vehicle fleet and market only about 4.1%. That means about 96% of the total Chinese vehicle fleet is fossil fuel.

And well over 99% of the transport sector is fossil fuel.

Oil and gas have a very bright future, with the old discredited Biden policies being readied for the ash heap of history and new generation fossil fuel vehicles being prepared by China.

All the screwballs in the world cannot change or stop this.

https://oilprice.com/Energy/Crude-Oil/Oil-and-Gas-Are-Here-To-Stay.html

"BP's latest energy outlook forecasts oil demand to peak in 2025, but the decline will be gradual, with consumption remaining high in 2035.

The energy transition is losing momentum due to slowing EV sales, insufficient renewable capacity expansion, and rising electricity costs.

The developing world's growing energy needs are a major factor in the continued reliance on oil and gas, even as developed nations attempt to reduce consumption."

"The energy transition is showing signs of losing momentum over the past few months. EV sales are slowing, wind and solar capacity additions are not expanding fast enough, and electricity is getting more instead of less expensive.

With those signs, others have been flashing red, too. Despite the push against oil and gas, these are here to stay for the long haul—and demand won’t even decline that much after peaking, according to the latest energy outlook of BP."

India is pushing ahead with growth in oil and gas production.

"For India—the world’s second-largest oil importer—foreign investment in developing its oil and gas industry is critical, with the country’s crude oil demand growing this year despite higher prices. According to the IEA, India is set to become the biggest driver of oil demand growth in the world between now and 2030. It currently imports 4.6 million bpd."

India is now the largest population in the world. Between India and China, they have 2/3's the worlds population, and India decided to slow importing coal as they are digging their own "dirty" coal as they are relying on coal fired plants to generate enough electricity. China and India are still building 1 plant a week, so 2 plants a week to keep the grid from failing. And yes, India was getting their coal from Australia but was too expensive.

Yes, we have already discredited your data.

But China is now going full ahead into the development of fossil fuel automobiles for the masses, the EVs were a short-lived fad.

The main component of this industry group is Geely, the Chinese auto giant.

https://media.renaultgroup.com/renault-group-and-geely-announce-the-creation-of-leading-powertrain-technology-company-horse-powertrain-limited/

"Following the agreements signed on July 11, 2023 by Renault Group and Geely, and after having obtained the approval of the relevant authorities, HORSE Powertrain Limited has been officially created on May 31, 2024 with each group holding 50% stake in the new company.

The new company will lead the market for hybrid and combustion powertrain components and systems.

Matias Giannini is appointed CEO of HORSE Powertrain limited. The Board of directors of HORSE Powertrain Limited will be chaired by Daniel Li and will have 6 directors with equal representation from its shareholders.

HORSE Powertrain Limited expects to reach c. €15 billion in annual revenues and a production of c. 5 million powertrain units per year and will have as of day 1 a complete portfolio of state-of-the-art powertrain technologies for global partners including hybrid systems, internal combustion engines, transmissions, and battery solutions."

As Eco says "Oil is hot and getting hotter" 🤣

China is now developing a new generation of fossil fuel automobiles, which will give the average Chinese the ability to enjoy a real automobile, not the hair-brained EVs.

Here is what the European climate activists think about EVs...they are now attacking the Tesla plants which are seen as promoting lithium pollution and reduced forestation.

https://www.theguardian.com/technology/article/2024/may/10/tesla-protest-germany-factory#:~:text=Hundreds of protesters opposed to,the electric vehicle manufacturing facility.

"Hundreds of protesters opposed to the expansion of a Tesla plant in Grünheide, near Berlin, clashed with police on Friday as some of them attempted to storm the electric vehicle manufacturing facility.

About 800 people took part in the protest, according to the organizing group Disrupt Tesla, which claims the expansion would damage the environment. Tesla has attracted intense backlash since the company opened the factory in March 2022, and later announced plans to expand into a nearby forest to increase its production capability.

In February, the town where the factory is located voted against the plans in a referendum that was not legally binding. Since then, protesters have been stationed in an encampment nearby in protest. The same facility was shut down for a week in March after suspected arson disabled its power. A separate protest collective called Volcano Group claimed responsibility for the fire, calling for the “complete destruction of the gigafactory”.

Video of Friday’s action showed dozens of people wearing blue caps and masks coming from a nearby wooded area and attempting to storm the company’s premises with police officers trying to prevent them, including by force. At least one protester was detained.

“Why do the police let the leftwing protestors off so easily?” the Tesla CEO, Elon Musk, wrote on his social medial platform X...

The group also wants to highlight environmental destruction in countries such as Argentina or Bolivia brought about by lithium mining, according to a Disrupt Tesla spokesperson, Ole Becker. Lithium is a key resource for electric vehicle batteries."

China is ramping up coal production at a terrific rate of expansion, China loves coal.

https://www.reuters.com/world/china/chinas-june-coal-output-hits-six-month-high-safety-inspections-ease-2024-07-15/

"The world's largest coal producer mined 405.38 million metric tons of the fuel last month, a 3.6% increase on the year "

"Lower production from China's coking coal hub of Shanxi had weighed on output during the March-May period after the local government ordered a series of safety checks following an uptick in deadly accidents, and told miners to curb excess production. The province mined 29% of China's coal last year.
Average daily output in June rose to 13.5 million tons, "

Earlier coal production declines were related to safety inspections.

"The lower output during January-May continued to weigh on the year-on-year comparison for the first half of 2024."

China has filthy air.   Do you agree that China has filthy air?

https://www.iqair.com/ca/china

Do you want to emulate China or do the exact opposite?  A "horrific" rate of expansion would be a better phrase.

Simple questions.

Nope, but if they wanna burn coal, it's their prerogative, same with India. I can tell you, you will not succeed in shaming them into the "green" energy as too many people need energy and India is now digging their own coal now and building coal fired plants like China, 1 a week. So 2 new coal plants every week tells me they are opting for the cheaper way out.

But total atmospheric CO2 is only a small contributor to warming. Reduced particulates in the northern hemisphere is probably the main cause.??????????????

glad to see you make up BS with nothing to back it up

reality

Black carbon, a component of fine particulate matter, is one of the largest contributors to global warming after CO2. Black carbon warms the earth's atmosphere by absorbing sunlight, thereby accelerating the melting of snow and ice.

Quote:".......Particulate matter is one of the largest contributor to climate change.....absorbing sunlight....accelerating melting of snow and ice..."

This statement might be partially correct.

1. Frequent volcano eruption these few years has created cooling effect in the tropics. It lowers average temperature of 24'c to 38'c to

16'c to ~ 32'c.

- ash or particulate matter provides shielding effect. It blocks sunray from heating the earth. Not sure if recall correctly, when an asteroid hit the earth, so much dust generated to a point that ice age was formed and dinosaurs were extinct during then...

- a course "backyard meteorology" shown an experiment. It concludes that without particulate matter from a smoky stick, rainy cloud can not be formed.

Rainy cloud, reduces atmospheric temperature by absorbing the heat and returning water back to earth that once again reduce the heat on the ground.

- in addition, an observation deduces that active volcanic activity actually encourages frequent thunder storm that comes with frequent thunder , lightning and heavy rain.

- rain water, as shown, with a photo taken by chance, by a cult kid before, creates cracks on ice the moment it hits. It was deduced also, that large amount of icebergs have been formed in recent decade, probably due to changing pattern or frequency of rain in polar zones. Not directly caused by global warming where increment in temperature would only melt the ice but not crack it...

- And rain water, accelerates the rate of snow and ice melting due to temperature difference.

Not sure if anyone could recall this post:

My reply to one of the questions raised is shown in the link.

The screenshot attached highlights key points where most of all of us might have easily overlooked...

The key points are:

- brief on water cycle

- brief on development, deforestation and water cycle

- summary on consequences

Therefore, disregard the level of carbon dioxide in the air, it can be reduced, particularly by natural methods.  Whatever negative impact that we might have been told,  would be reversible.

But the larger problem is probably handling the irreversible impact due to massive urbanization and development throughout the globe.

Development and deforestation disrupt natural occurrence of water cycle and other related cycles. Without these, temperature will continue to increase by leaps and bounces. The majority who are playing with 1.5 'c increment might have no idea  what they are dealing with.... And how severe the impact of their ignorance over public heath and sustainability of the globe.

Do you think China is some backwards nation that needs coal?  Why do I have to lose my house to comment?

They have a better space program (recently brought back rocks from dark side of moon).

They host Olympic games and win many medals.

They have a huge military including nukes.

They have improved political stability.

If I had no food or housing I would kill an endangered rhino for food and make a shelter from its carcass.  China is in no such situation, they have the best 5G technology in the world and win trade wars with the USA. Do not pretend they need coal to get ahead. Luddite.

Better is coal.????? for who is it better??????? the owner of the coal mine.....of course

how about the  coal miner????? China has a horrible record for the health/safety of its coal miners...

for the people who are downwind of the coal fired power plant?????

PM 2.5 and the related deaths shows coal is not better compared to anything.........

I guess you think price is the only factor........... You can get free untreated water out of creeks in China.......FREE.....yet you will never get off the shitter....you can sacrifice your Quality of life for some real time sitting on the throne thinking about Better is Coal...

and now today the LCOE of solar electricity is less than Coal in China

You are always bragging about free natural gas.........maybe you can build a  tunnel to China (.since you think tunnels are so cheap) and transport some of the Natural Gas from Texas that you say is free for the taking....You will make a fortune

Reality in China...they are building wind and solar faster than demand for electricity increases and now Coal is on a downward path....and no one in China is complaining about the future of less pollution..... and you seem to be the only one who thinks Coal is better.........

Coal elimination really is independent of the "green" energy transition.  It is poison. Switch to natural gas, still all the CO2, just less poison.

Don't call it "green" energy, call it "cleaner" energy.  Coal is filth.

It is really odd that the same people who simultaneously support all forms of fossil fuels (oil, gas, coal) can get annoyed when you suggest replacing one fossil fuel with another.

If you love coal so much you make gas feel sad. :(

Don't you love gas more than those damn solar panels?
