Ecocharger + 1,474 DL November 27, 2021 (edited) More oil wars ahead, https://oilprice.com/Energy/Energy-General/Oil-Prices-Collapse-To-69-On-New-COVID-Fears.html "OPEC+, led in large part by Saudi Arabia, will meet next week to discuss the plan for production. If they do indeed change their plans as rumors have suggested—whether it is because of anticipated demand drop off courtesy of the latest covid wave or whether it is in response to Biden’s coordinated release of crude from the SPR along with other nations—it will be seen by the market as retaliatory. But there is little doubt that a 10% dip in the price of Brent will prompt OPEC+ to at least pause the production increases or even cut production. And why not also relish in the opportunity the market has just handed OPEC+ to simultaneously stick it to President Biden." These stories have to be amazing to those who want all electric cars and think that they are THE answer to every problem. Ecocharger + 1,474 DL November 30, 2021 (edited) Here is the result of government Green policies, an energy disaster, getting worse by the month. https://oilprice.com/Energy/Natural-Gas/What-Happens-If-Europe-Runs-Out-Of-Gas.html ""We haven't got enough gas at the moment, quite frankly. We're not storing for the winter period," Weir said at the FT Commodities Asia Summit in the middle of November. "So hence there is a real concern that . . . if we have a cold winter that we could have rolling blackouts in Europe," Trafigura's chief executive said. The natural gas crunch is pushing power prices in Europe to record or near record highs. A very cold and still winter weather with low wind speeds would further exacerbate the power supply shortage, especially in north Europe, which relies on wind generation for part of its electricity supply. For example, lower wind power generation in France, coupled with lower nuclear power supply, sent French day-ahead power prices last week to the highest in nearly a decade as demand rose with the arrival of colder weather. Day-ahead power prices in the Nordic region for Monday jumped to a record high on the Nord Pool exchange, as the low temperatures combined with lower power supply from renewables and high gas prices. With tight natural gas supply and uncertainty whether and when Russian gas flows could be significantly raised, Europe's power and gas systems and markets are facing the toughest test yet this winter season. Most of the tar sands from Alberta run through endbridge pipelines. The largest shareholder of endbridge stock is the Canadian Government. Let’s call Canada little China just for fun. The Canadian people are much greener than the Canadian Government so even the Canadian Gov can’t run a pipeline to the coast. Just like Biden can see US fracking flaring from space we can see endbridge tar sand pipelines mar US land to the Gulf. The Biden blame misdirection political football allows imports, exports and big time pollution for fuels the US doesn’t need. Let’s all freak out about being energy independent by importing and exporting world FF. Brilliant.

Ecocharger + 1,474 DL December 1, 2021 (edited) The future of battery powered vehicles looks like it will be strictly LOW performance. https://oilprice.com/Energy/Crude-Oil/Battery-Metals-Boom-Might-Cancel-Cobalt.html "Lithium-ion batteries contain a variety of elements, including lithium, nickel, aluminum, iron, manganese, and cobalt. Of these metals, cobalt is the most expensive, with the average cost of the blue metal surpassing the cost of all the other battery metals put together over the past four years. EV batteries can hold up to 20 kg of Cobalt in each 100 kilowatt-hour (kWh) pack, with cobalt making up to 20% of the weight of the cathode in lithium-ion EV batteries. And that’s bad news because cobalt is considered the highest material supply chain risk for electric vehicles in both the short and medium term. Further, cobalt is produced as a by-product of copper or nickel mining, and is, therefore, affected by the demand and pricing of those metals. Indeed, cobalt prices have rocketed 105% since the beginning of 2021, to trade at $65,800 per metric ton. More worryingly, beyond its price, cobalt mining comes with a huge human cost, too: about 60% comes from the Democratic Republic of the Congo, where mining has been linked to child labor and deaths." Ecocharger + 1,474 DL December 2, 2021 (edited) Oil long-term looks strong. https://oilprice.com/Energy/Oil-Prices/Jefferies-Fully-Reopened-World-Could-See-150-Oil.html "“In a really fully reopened world, the oil price could go to a $150 dollars because the supply constraints are dramatic,” Wood said. In recent years, the demonization of oil and gas, or as Wood described it—the “political attack”—on fossil fuels, has reduced investment in the fossil fuel industry, which still supplied 84 percent of global energy demand in 2020. “The issue for me is not the oil price, the issue is the pandemic. The oil price is gonna go higher in a fully reopened world because nobody’s investing in oil but the world still consumes fossil fuels,” Wood told CNBC. Much higher oil prices would escalate the inflation fears, he added. Although the oil market currently frets about the potential impact of the new Covid variant on global oil demand, consumption will sooner or later rebound again, even if it dips in the coming months. At that point, be it in 2022 or 2023, supply could be struggling to meet demand, also because of the shrinking capacity within the OPEC+ group to boost production."
