GREEN NEW DEAL = BLIZZARD OF LIES

solved ? Same old 70 year old crappy pipe in the ground across Michigan. Enbridge does not care. Great Lakes are more important than Enbridge

Looks like that old pipe has done pretty well, small problems at best. Now getting an upgrade for good.

There is another Blizzard of Lies which is being carried out at the super-international highest-powers-that-be level, the ridiculous dance over coal "phase-out", even though new coal-burning technology is now free of toxic emissions.

China is regularly lauded by climate agitators and activists as the world leader in the new Green Revolution and a model for the backward countries of  North America.

The truth, of course, is always the opposite of what the Green (that should be Brown) Revolutionary Cadres want us to believe.

This "new coal burning" tech needs a reference.

Even the MINING, PROCESSING and TRANSPORTATION of coal emits.

a rush to shut the pipeline before alternative is built?? 🤭

what happens to UNSIGHTLY pipeline above the lakeside?? Is there a problem to bend the pipe bypassing the lake above ground?? They can camouflage the above ground pipe with background color of the area no?? 🤭

Emits what? Coal-burning technology for thermal power is now emissions free, that is, free of toxic chamicals.

The transition to "clean" (read "Brown") energy would hit a huge snag which will slow down any attempt to adopt batteries on a widespread basis.

"Amid the most bullish expectations about the lithium market in years, analysts warn that even the increased project pipeline may not be sufficient to meet the booming demand for lithium—a critical battery metal—in the energy transition. Experts and forecasters also warn that rising raw material prices in the current commodity bull run could actually slow down the energy transition because it could slow the decline in battery costs. Lower battery costs would be critical to EVs reaching price parity with conventional vehicles and allowing for more energy storage deployment to support the rising share of renewables in the electricity generation mix."

"The current project pipeline could result in capacity deficits that could triple lithium prices towards the end of this decade, Rystad Energy says.

According to the IEA, lithium demand in 2040 could be 13 to 51 times higher than today’s levels, depending on the advancement in battery technology and the climate targets."

That spill was far more than a small problem.

I know an biologist who worked for Enbridge at the time. He said the local hate for them was intense - like hire bodyguards.

The locals vandalized the hotel rooms they were put up in (for free). Enbride paid all hotel cleanup costs and kept the media out. The worst room had "F**k Enbridge" written in human stool on the walls.

He also said normally they would be allow to euthanize oily Canadian Geese, this time they were denied. With all the vet bills etc. he said they were spending around $20,000 for every bird saved.  Crazy for a bird that is not rare and is basically a pest.

You can't even mine coal, let lone burn it without releasing large amounts of toxic pollution - and I'm not even talking about all the fuel burned.  Huge amounts of toxic dust gets released into the air.

Coal is filthy - fact.

Easy peasy, stop the trains and trucks. We don’t need Albertas oil, we don’t need to export oil. We could easily get rid of a lot of refinery capacity and imports and have plenty for US consumption. US drillers kick butt if the price is right. In fact US drillers are ramping up now. Why? The price is right.

Vistra Corp. owns 36 natural-gas power plants, one of America’s largest fleets. It doesn’t plan to buy or build any more.

Instead, Vistra intends to invest more than $1 billion in solar farms and battery storage units in Texas and California as it tries to transform its business to survive in an electricity industry being reshaped by new technology.

“I’m hellbent on not becoming the next Blockbuster Video , ” said Vistra Chief Executive Curt Morgan. “I’m not going to sit back and watch this legacy business dwindle and not participate.”

A decade ago, natural gas displaced coal as America’s top electric-power source, as fracking unlocked cheap quantities of the fuel. Now, in quick succession, natural gas finds itself threatened with the same kind of disruption, only this time from cost-effective batteries charged with wind and solar energy.

Natural-gas-fired electricity represented 38% of U.S. generation in 2019, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration, or EIA, and it supplies round-the-clock electricity as well as bursts during peak demand. Wind and solar generators have gained substantial market share, and as battery costs fall, batteries paired with that green power are beginning to step into those roles by storing inexpensive green energy and discharging it after the sun falls or the wind dies.https://www.wsj.com/articles/batteries-challenge-natural-gas-elecric-power-generation-11620236583

Mining coal moves earth overburden, or digs a hole in the ground, with??? (it ain't men at the end of handshovels or picks).

Sorting the coal requires conveying/breaking/sorting, with??

Loading the processed coal into the railcars requires??

MOVING the railcars to a plant requires ??

Pushing/mixing the coal around the plant pile uses??

"Emissions-free" means zero emissions, toxic or otherwise.

What do you do with the "real estate" that won't burn (a.k.a., ASH)?  Do you have any idea what is in that ash?

What do you do with the SO₂ or the NOX or the fine particulates that pass through the ESP and baghouses?  The current "mufflers" do not remove 100% of these emissions.

Even better, what do you do with the CO₂?

If you have a link to a plant that emits zero, PLEASE post that.  I would be REALLY interested in the tech.

The crap tons of other ICE buses they run:

- Low Floor 40' Buses 850

- 60' Articulated Buses 33

- Community Buses 49

- Paratransit Buses 100

They consulted the service department during the procurement and testing process.

Not sure what these numbers refer to....

30% reduction compared to what? A jet airliner?  Some pitch.

30% less than the rest of their fleet.

See above, they have over a thousand other buses to compare to.

You asked for the comparison and made a poor joke.

Funny, that was how many years ago? And that was the ONLY problem with this pipeline, which has run for many decades?  The total costs were?

Sounds relatively minor to me...compared to the wild ramp-up of coal production in China to fuel EV's.

You might try citing the study, so that we could understand the noise.

The CO2?  Anyone who considers that to be a pollutant is dreaming in technicolor. We need CO2 to live as a human species.

The new coal-burning thermal plants are regarded as zero-toxic-emission technology.  That is well established.

The new Green (or rather Brown) Revolution has caused widespread panic and logical breakdowns in many higher levels of thought, just take a look at this nonsense. Madness has prevailed, and do not even try to mention real science to these folks...not only do they not understand it, they don't even want to hear about it.

Pass out the life-preservers, abandon ship!

I posted the link, you just didn't read it.  Try not to make yourself look bad.

It's is a 139 pages - I will take the executive summary, have fun.
