Not at all. Very easy to reduce fuel consumption during war and use the excess food to offset a lack of imports. The UK had fuel rationing during WW2. Heck, everybody had their Aluminium frypans confiscated to help build aircraft.

Our ethanol production has nothing to do with food or fuel security. It has everything to do with corruption and waste. It has been an ecological disaster. If Iowa didn't have the first Presidential primary there wouldn't be any ethanol mandate.

World’s Largest Electrolyzer Plant Now Under Construction

Gladstone, Queensland, home to one of the fossil fuel industry’s largest export hubs, will soon become home to the world’s largest electrolyzer plant. Not only that, but Fortescue Future Industries will also manufacture wind turbines, solar panels, batteries, and cables there in a Green Energy Manufacturing Centre. This is all part of the green hydrogen update in Australia.

US-based Plug Power will partner with Fortescue Future Industries (FFI) to manufacture its technology in Australia. It is expected that the electrolyzers will be used at the nearby Gibson Island hydrogen facility. Gibson Island has been used to produce fertilizer from methane. It is in the process of being converted to use green hydrogen as a feedstock.

“The electrolyser facility will have an initial capacity of two gigawatts per annum — more than doubling current global production, and enough to produce more than 200,000 tonnes of green hydrogen each year,” FFI writes.

By 2030, FFI plans to create 15 million tons of green hydrogen a year. That would require more than 200 gigawatts (GW) of new wind and solar generation and a lot more electrolyzers and clean water. “FFI’s goal is to become the world’s leading, integrated, fully renewable energy and green products company, powering the Australian economy and creating jobs for Australians as the world transitions away from fossil fuels,” FFI writes.

“Fortescue Future Industries is ahead of the curve. The electrolyzer facility is set to be complete by early next year and will quickly scale up to meet the growing demand for electrolyzers,” FFI CEO Julie Shuttleworth said. “We plan to manufacture other renewable energy components in future expansions.”

In a deal with the Queensland government, the green hydrogen projects in Gladstone will be linked to the main power grid and supplied with renewable energy from Queensland’s increasing number of renewable energy projects.

Yes daft would be quite appropriate.

China plans huge wind and solar power rollout in Gobi desert

Published on 09/03/2022, 4:13pm

The goal is to install 450GW of renewable energy capacity by 2030, more than twice the US’ installed wind and solar generating fleet

By Joe Lo and Isabelle Gerretsen

China plans to build 450 gigawatts of wind and solar power capacity in the Gobi desert by 2030, government planner He Lifeng said on Saturday.

That’s more than twice the total amount of solar and wind power installed in the USA.

Client Earth’s China representative Dimtri De Boer said: “450GW is really huge. That would be the lion’s share of new solar and wind capacity installation until 2030.”

The Gobi desert straddles China’s northern border with Mongolia. The land is cheap and there is lots of wind and sunshine.

The province of Inner Mongolia, which includes most of China’s Gobi desert, is the biggest producer of coal in China and has pursued a coal-led recovery from the Covid-19 pandemic.

China has brought the costs of manufacturing solar panels down and is able to use these cheap domestic panels in projects like this.

“It only makes sense to deploy domestically made renewable energy equipments in big scale as a way to contribute to climate action as well as economic growth,” Li said.

Similar programmes in the early 2010s were hampered by bottlenecks in the grid infrastructure to deliver the electricity to major cities. This meant renewable producers had to make less electricity than they could have done.

“That problem has largely been solved,” Li said. “Building stuff in China is never a problem.”

Institute for Energy Economics and Financial Analysis analyst Simon Nicholas agreed. He told Climate Home: “China is a world leader in long distance transmission and has been building ultra high voltage direct current transmission lines for years now so if anyone can do it, China can.”

China Is Planning to Build 43 New Coal-Fired Power Plants. Can It Still Keep Its Promises to Cut Emissions?

https://time.com/6090732/china-coal-power-plants-emissions/

From your article:

China is a renewable energy leader, accounting for about 50% of the world’s growth in renewable energy capacity in 2020. The world’s most populous nation is also out in front on key green technologies such as electric vehicles, batteries and solar power. “They are No. 1 in technology developments in zero emissions industries,” says Tim Buckley, the director of energy finance studies for Australia and South Asia at the Institute for Energy Economics and Financial Analysis (IEEFA).

China’s carbon-dioxide emissions growth slowed in the second quarter of 2021 “indicating that the rapid emissions growth seen since the end of the COVID-19 lockdown in early 2020 could be coming to an end,” according to the CREA and GEM report.

“I think that it’s clear that there’s already a shift from the runaway expansion of all kinds of industry and construction that we’ve seen for the past year and a bit to trying to at least moderate the pace,” Lauri Myllyvirta, a lead analyst at CREA who worked on the report.

He says that the newly announced projects will be important to watch. “These are the ones that will test whether it’s still acceptable to keep building these things.”

Oil markets have no where to go but UP!

https://oilprice.com/Energy/Energy-General/Oil-Could-See-Its-Biggest-Supply-Shock-Since-1973.html

"Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and the sanctions that have been levied against it have sent shockwaves through global energy markets.

Inventories in major oil-consuming developed economies, including in the United States, have been falling steadily.

The energy crisis today is “comparable in intensity, in brutality, to the oil shock of 1973,” France’s Economy and Finance Minister Bruno Le Maire said."

Interesting. When I asked the head of ANSTO in 1995 what he thought about Star Wars, he simply said "Star Wars is dead"! I guess he was right, but hypersonic missiles are just as effective only cheaper? Hence the belligerence of Xitler and Poo-tin? Indeed, it was not until Trump came up with the Space Force that China and Russia revealed their hypersonic weapons to the world. I think that Mr Biding His Time ought to at least warn Mr Poo-tin that genocide rarely pays off and is the fastest way to get your own country destroyed. There will be no face-saving peace agreement, much too late for that. I hear that 100's of thousands of Russians tried to escape to Finland, Sweden, and Norway but half of them got sent to jail. Also, half the Russian troops are eating rations that had an expiry date of 2015. Every good commander knows you must feed the troops properly so that goes to show what an incompetent commander-in-chief that Poo-tin really is? Too busy playing the geo-political chessboard and not noticing any of the details lol. The Chinese are the opposite. Fixated on the details such as building 80 "Ghost Cities" for their citizens to move into when the nuclear winter arrives, but have absolutely no strategy to actually win a world war. They think that their numbers will suffice when that is actually their Achille's heel lol.

The strong point of the Chinese lies in their undercover undermining of every nation on earth. No Putin is asking for their military help. Biden's family has gotten rich off of them as have many in our congress and our crony capitalists working in concert. Bribery goes a long way when you are talking about millions of dollars at a time. Our elites are beholden to China to make most of our everyday products and do not want to try to compete paying American wages. The best answer is to deal with nations that our not our biggest antagonost worldwide. We need more alliances with South America or China will end up controlling it.

Oil prices are headed upwards to the heavens, what a ride we are on.

https://oilprice.com/Energy/Energy-General/Could-Oil-Prices-Really-Hit-200.html

"Commodity prices, including oil and natural gas, are all over the place.

Russia’s aggression in Ukraine, and the subsequent retaliation from the West, have sent global supply chains into chaos.

Oil prices could soar even higher if new sanctions are levied on Russia’s energy industry."

Ok dippy, I guess we have to go through the numbers again for your mathematically challenged midget mind.:

China has a vehicle fleet of 300 million vehicles. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_vehicles_per_capita

Thus 1% of the total vehicle fleet is 3 million vehicles.

Last year NEV sales were 3.3 million or 1.1% of the total vehicle fleethttps://www.electrive.com/2022/01/11/china-counts-more-than-3-million-nev-sales-in-2021/#:~:text=In China%2C around 3.3 million, month with 505%2C000 NEV cars.

In January of this year NEV sales more than doubled YoY for a Total: 372,615 (up 115%)

In February of this year NEV sales more than doubled to 272,000 units in February, up 180.5 percent year-on-year

As both months were well over double YoY results, extrapolation says that this year will be well over double that of last year. Thus well over 2% of total vehicles in China.

Will I have to do this math for you every month?
