Once again, try reading the articles you post.

"China leads the world in constructing new solar and new wind, while also building more coal plants than any other country, the report finds."

"Champenois says the surge in permits last year could be China's coal industry seizing upon a last chance to get financing for new coal plants, which are increasingly uneconomical compared to renewables."

China also has a lot of people, hence more need for energy.

Unnecessary coal plant permitting spree?

Try reading the articles, in this case you didn't even read the title.

"Based on five-year projections in India’s latest National Electricity Plan (NEP), more than 8 GW of non-captive coal-fired power plant capacity in active construction is unnecessary, and all 34.9 GW of the pre-construction capacity is also not needed."

You have to accept your "predictions" were garbage.  You don't look at actual market forces, you just continually repeat the same biased lines about how "oil is strong and EV's are dead."

Stumbling EV sales is due to the excessive price differentials between fossil fuel cars, whose sales are sustaining well at the moment, compared to the overpriced EVs, and it is the EVs which are currently stumbling.

I will lend you my handkerchief so you can weep some more.

Oil production is currently at an all-time high thanks to increasing American production of oil in response to Biden's pleas for more oil. It is probable that world oil production is increasing.

LOL  Try to remember your demand side predictions before you think I'm weeping not laughing.

Production nobody currently wants, hence all the well documented production curtailments and falling prices.

Try to face the reality and not patch together tiny pieces of news you like due to your biases.

Yes and coal is still a diminishing percentage of electricity production in China. You dont take into account all those old stations being decommissioned and just see a headline and post rubbish.

https://www.statista.com/statistics/302233/china-power-generation-by-source/

In 2011 coal was 82.5% of electricity production, 10 years later it was 67.5%.

Maybe Saudi Arabia is worried about demand, and that's why it extended its production cuts. Maybe it was because Riyadh wants even higher oil prices so it can keep building its fantastical $500-billion Neom project. It doesn't matter, however. What matters is that should it want to, Saudi Arabia can remove more barrels from the market if need be.

Such a hypothetical move could send the opposite of the desired message, namely, reinforcing uncertainty about demand, but ultimately, it's the physical and not the futures market where actual demand is revealed as opposed to projections from often biased sources. And if the physical market is tight, prices will go up. Because whether or not it's nearing a peak, right now, oil demand is on its way to another annual record—per the IEA, no less.

By Irina Slav for Oilprice.com

In her story, it is her opinion. India is still growing much faster than China, and will pass it in consumption. Saudi's cuts get replaced by USA oil, now at record highs and exports, Tiny Guyana is ramping up fast as is Brazil. The Saudi's are going to get replaced by other countries that are non OPEC in production numbers. Even the IEA said this fiscal year is a record high. The last line in her article!!!!

Too many articles out there showing EV's slow down in sales and production numbers. So you "wish" oil away but it's here to stay!

Ahh..

That's the intent of "mothballing" a plant.   It's there when you need it to recover from unexpected supply constraints.

You don't shut down a plant intended for mothballing and walk away.

You attend to it. maintain it, and protect it for potential future use.

It's an asset in your hip pocket.

The data indicates that oil demand continues to grow in China and India, as well as in America.

How you think that growth = decline is a mystery which only the wild eyed climate fanatics could hope to understand.

Here have a read, take notes here. The commentary was not written by EWO but a professional journalist. Now I do grasp the concept of fake news, perhaps you might disprove the commentary..

Insanity’: petrostates planning huge expansion of fossil fuels, says UN report

Plans by nations including Saudi Arabia, the US and UAE would blow climate targets and ‘throw humanity’s future into question’

The world’s fossil fuel producers are planning expansions that would blow the planet’s carbon budget twice over, a UN report has found. Experts called the plans “insanity” which “throw humanity’s future into question”.

The energy plans of the petrostates contradicted their climate policies and pledges, the report said. The plans would lead to 460% more coal production, 83% more gas, and 29% more oil in 2030 than it was possible to burn if global temperature rise was to be kept to the internationally agreed 1.5C. The plans would also produce 69% more fossil fuels than is compatible with the riskier 2C target.
