Maybe it was because Riyadh wants even higher oil prices so it can keep building its fantastical $500-billion Neom project. It doesn't matter, however. What matters is that should it want to, Saudi Arabia can remove more barrels from the market if need be. Such a hypothetical move could send the opposite of the desired message, namely, reinforcing uncertainty about demand, but ultimately, it's the physical and not the futures market where actual demand is revealed as opposed to projections from often biased sources. And if the physical market is tight, prices will go up. Because whether or not it's nearing a peak, right now, oil demand is on its way to another annual record—per the IEA, no less. By Irina Slav for Oilprice.com In her story, it is her opinion. India is still growing much faster than China, and will pass it in consumption. Saudi's cuts get replaced by USA oil, now at record highs and exports, Tiny Guyana is ramping up fast as is Brazil. The Saudi's are going to get replaced by other countries that are non OPEC in production numbers. Even the IEA said this fiscal year is a record high. The last line in her article!!!! Too many articles out there showing EV's slow down in sales and production numbers. So you "wish" oil away but it's here to stay!

Insanity’: petrostates planning huge expansion of fossil fuels, says UN report Plans by nations including Saudi Arabia, the US and UAE would blow climate targets and ‘throw humanity’s future into question’ The world’s fossil fuel producers are planning expansions that would blow the planet’s carbon budget twice over, a UN report has found. Experts called the plans “insanity” which “throw humanity’s future into question”. The energy plans of the petrostates contradicted their climate policies and pledges, the report said. The plans would lead to 460% more coal production, 83% more gas, and 29% more oil in 2030 than it was possible to burn if global temperature rise was to be kept to the internationally agreed 1.5C. The plans would also produce 69% more fossil fuels than is compatible with the riskier 2C target. https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2023/nov/08/insanity-petrostates-planning-huge-expansion-of-fossil-fuels-says-un-report Edited November 10, 2023 by Eyes Wide Open
