Yes that new electricity infrastructure and free powergen will cripple us, 🤣

I bet you wish the USA were planning on upgrading your energy infrastructure network! Even you have been banging on about how crap it is and how much it will cost to upgrade, all money that you cant afford, should have done it years ago!

Never mind Footinmouth will have you all living underground in the tunnels he is going to build using monopoly money, enjoy!

Your own government is on the road to bankruptcy, cannot even afford to finance the EV transition.

Okay you have a hole in the ground now what?  Build a pipeline?  That could be expensive infrastructure and an environmental disaster (face it, they always leak sometime).

I suspect power lines are cheaper than pipelines, they also never make toxic spills so are easier to get approved (native and environmental groups won't complain).  Power lines are also useful for more than one industry.

More power infrastructure is always a good thing.

USA's garbage grid has been identified as a national security risk.

Oil resources are not reserves....do you know the difference??????

you can crow about reserves that have real 43-101 or real drill holes and data

but resources....well as Mark Twain said over 150 years ago on the Comstock

Mark Twain. Amongst his many purported quips was, “the definition of a mine is 'a hole in the ground with a liar standing next to it.

resources are not economical recoverable until you prove them up to be reserves....

any nutjob that thinks the Oil shale deposits in the green river are money in the bank deserves to have their life savings taken from them

Oil shale resources of the Eocene Green River Formation, Greater Green River Basin, Wyoming, Colorado, and Utah????

I have a bridge to sell you

try this one go to school and earn a degree in mineral anything......then work for a bunch of years....then work on a few 43-101s

then come back and tell us all how much you are willing to invest in green river oil shale  resources

I get usually 2 to 3 calls  a year from family, friends and their families asking me about such and such projects ...like oil shale and how much money can they make drilling into the Green River Formation

I give them 15 minutes for free then I charge them $300 an hour to educate them (at least I should get some of the money they are going to through down the dry hole...they can comfort themselves knowing that I am enjoy their loss)

Oil is clearly the future. Demand for oil is ramping up there is no stopping it, not even the wildest dreams of Biden & Co. can stop the progress and the necessity of oil.

Biden even pleaded with the oil companies to increase oil production, so now he has his wish. American oil production is at an all-time high, necessary to meet growing demand.

https://oilprice.com/Energy/Crude-Oil/StanChart-Oil-Demand-Set-for-All-Time-High-in-May.html

"Also supporting crude prices is stronger-than-expected demand with commodity analysts at Standard Chartered noting that energy markets kicked off the new year with an overly pessimistic view of oil demand. Following the release of the latest Joint Organisations Data Initiative (JODI) report on Monday, StanChart estimates that January demand clocked in at 100.24 million barrels per day (mb/d), good for a 2.67 mb/d year-over-year increase."

"StanChart says demand indications remain robust, and have predicted that global demand will hit a new all-time high of 103.01 mb/d in May, a record which will be broken in June and again in August when demand is expected to clock in at 103.62 mb/d and 104.31 mb/d, respectively. "

Oil shale resources of the Eocene Green River Formation, Greater Green River Basin, Wyoming, Colorado, and Utah

Why reply to someone so dumb they cannot discern the difference between oil and gas in a conversation?

EDIT: PS: Those 2.1Trillion barrels of oil equivalent assume I believe the first 1500ft depth and a recovery ratio of 1:3.  One barrel equivalent energy of oil based infrastructure input obtains 3 barrels of oil output.  There were pilot projects obtaining a 1:8 ratio that were shut down.   Another one showed a claimed 1:12 in select ground.  So, take that as you will...

PS: The Green river formation is in places over 15,000ft deep(they stopped drilling there) and the test holes drilled there show the goop is actually BETTER the deeper you go in general.  So, that 2.1 Trillion, with some ingenuity is probably closer to 10, or maybe even 20 Trillion barrels of oil equivalent.  PPS: Australia also has a formation nearly as large and was actively mined during WWII.  How deep it is I do not know.  I am sure many other regions of the world have the same thing.

PPS: The Goop in Canada(Tar Sands), they are only claiming the top ~100m or was it 50m? for ~200B barrels of oil, at recovery of 1:11???  Been a while since I read their reserves equation on said formation.  Current recovery ratio's last I read were over 1:15 and the depth of the tar sands is well over 3000ft on an incline of about 30-->45 degrees.    This means the Tar sands, should one wish to actually recover more of the Goop, is actually Several Trillion barrels of oil. How much Venezuela has is even more mind boggling other than a large portion of it is under the ocean so... No, oil is not running out anytime soon.

The EV demand...there is none, absolutely no need to power millions of autos with electricity...

Perhaps in time this will change, that time is far in the future. One can only wish for best towards the United Kingdom, limited resources are indeed perilous.

How does being "energy rich" have anything to do with your ageing electricity infrastructure??? This is what was being discussed and you then go off on a tangent about gas reserves and thren get mixed up with oil reserves. WE WERE DISCUSSING ELECTRICTY GRID INFRASTRUCTURE FFS!

It doesnt matter how much "energy" youve got if you cant transport the electricity once generated!

"Much of the U.S. electric grid was built in the 1960s and 1970s. While the system has been improved with automation and some emerging technologies, our aging infrastructure is struggling to meet our modern electricity needs, such as renewable energy resources and growing building and transportation electrification. For example, 70 percent of transmission lines are over 25 years old and approaching the end of their typical 50–80-year lifecycle. This has major consequences on our communities: power outages, susceptibility to cyber-attacks, or community emergencies caused by faulty grid infrastructure."

What does it take to modernize the U.S. electric grid? | Department of Energy

If youre honest with yourselves its gonna take a lot of $$$$$ to upgrade your grid to meet future demand and be cyber secure. Energy reserves in any form wont make a blind bit of difference to Joe public when the lights keep going off!

Assuming the same annual rate of U.S. dry natural gas production in 2021 of about 34.52 Tcf, the United States has enough dry natural gas to last about 86 years. The actual number of years the TRR will last depends on the actual amount of dry natural gas produced and on changes in natural gas TRR in future years.

estimates that as of January 1, 2021, the United States had about 445 Tcf of proved reserves and about

2,528 Tcf of unproved reserves of dry natural gas.

Ahh the peanut section once again...2016...comes to mind. Are you a luddite? As I stated earlier oil developer's have transformed into door to door salesman attempting to gain drilling leases.

Largest Ever U.S. Shale Oil Deposit Identified in Texas

The Wolfcamp shale, which underlies a large swath of Texas roughly centered on the city of Midland, contains 20 billion barrels of oil that could be recovered with current technology.

https://eos.org/articles/largest-ever-u-s-shale-oil-deposit-identified-in-texas

We now have Bakken formation...Fracking seems to have changed the game.

Total organic carbon (TOC) within the shales may be as high as 40%, with estimates of total hydrocarbon generation across the entire Bakken Formation ranging from 200 to 400 billion barrels. While the formation is productive in numerous reservoirs throughout Montana and North Dakota, with the Elm Coulee Field in Montana and the Parshall area in North Dakota being the most prolific examples of Bakken success, many Bakken wells have yielded disappointing results. While variable productivity within a play is nothing unusual to the petroleum industry, the Bakken play is noteworthy because of the wide variety of approaches and technologies that have been applied with apparently inconsistent and all too often underachieving results. This project will implement a robust, systematic, scientific, and engineering research effort to overcome these challenges and unlock the vast resource potential of the Bakken Formation in the Williston Basin.

What is your point?  Nobody is worried about running out of oil.  The world is transitioning away from oil due to reasons other than scarcity.

Remember when the price of oil went negative?  Do you recall the ongoing OPEC production cuts?  If anything the word has easy access to more oil than anybody wants.

The EV Backlash Builds

Companies cut output amid flagging demand. Could it be the product?

The Biden Administration keeps throwing around billions in subsidies for electric vehicles, and the press corps keeps hailing them, but consumers don’t seem to want them. The evidence is building that this green industrial policy is a bust.

Curiosity of course, above all things known or conceptualized the human mind and just how it responds to stimulus. It is quite apparent there are a few here that rail on any opinion other than there own...and there opinions are very very narrow..which could be better said discipline of thought.

That is a fascinating experience.

The "proved" reserves are an absurd joke.  For 80 years USA had 30Billion barrels of oil "proved reserves" USA to date has pumped over 200Billion barrels of oil.  The only "proved reserves" which are ever stated in a companies books are ONLY the minimum reserves they are forced to say they have by law to placate certain bureaucrats.  The only reason the USA total "proved" reserves has increased is because the NUMBER of companies with oil reserves has increased due to new blood due to fracking as the old boys were SSLOWWWW to the party.

Its an absurd joke.  To my knowledge NO ONE has ever pumped LESS than their "proved" reserves of any formation.
