GREEN NEW DEAL = BLIZZARD OF LIES

China vows to start phasing down coal consumption from the 2026-2030 period as part of its efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, President Xi Jinping told the U.S.-led Climate Leaders’ Summit Thursday.

“We will strictly limit the increase in coal consumption over the 14th five-year plan period (2021-2025) and phase it down in the 15th five-year plan period (2026-2030),” Xi told the virtual gathering.

Jay, the new climate science has won the high ground and taken over the serious discussion on global warming/cooling. Scientists from around the world have abandoned the old CO2 model and begun research on the new solar science. Its all over but the shouting.

China to further cut coal use in 2021

BEIJING, April 22 (Xinhua) -- China aims to reduce the share of coal in its energy mix to less than 56 percent this year, according to a guideline released by the National Energy Administration (NEA).

The proportion was 56.8 percent in 2020 and 57.7 percent in 2019.

In 2021, China plans to further replace coal in final energy consumption with electricity equivalent to 200 billion kilowatt-hours, while increasing the proportion of electricity in final energy consumption to 28 percent, said the document.

...

In the face of the issue of global climate change, China has announced its goal to peak its carbon dioxide emissions before 2030 and become carbon-neutral by 2060. Enditem

Again, you stuck on those percentages, Jay. In absolute terms coal is increasing rapidly, check out your own graph, Jay, that's the funny part about this.

Look at what the man says, Jay...."We will limit our INCREASE.."  Increase means up, Jay, more coal being used by China.

Ten years from now you will see fossil fuels not only increased in absolute terms but still at 80% of the energy mix.

It isn't about environmentalism...it's about a shift in power which would take power and money from the oil companies into the pockets of people like Elon Musk and others. This has nothing to do with saving the planet.

More of your BS. EV sales are going gang busters as I have shown.

The Tesla China sales decline was a lie and the recall was fixed with an over the air software update. How many ICE cars get recalled every month?

This month:

Everything is "growing fast". But there is only room for the fittest to survive.

There is a big showdown coming in Texas between solar and oil, these are the two guys fighting over top dog status, and there is only room for one of them in town. The other guy will have to pack up and ride out.

I know who gets my bets.

https://oilprice.com/Energy/Energy-General/Clash-Of-the-Energy-Titans-Oil-vs-Solar.html

it's a little interesting to read polarized opinions.............

Like a tropical kid would be frightened when the sky turned absurdly dark, suddenly, at 4 p.m. or surprised with delight to find the sun still shined at 9.30 p.m., we could be in fear if what we have been having on large scale suddenly overshadowed; or surprised with delight shall what we would like to see is granted for a longer period.

The drivers of the disparity might be what we are thinking.......

1. some oil fields are expected to have merely 50 years of reserve, more than 20 years ago. Alternatives to petroleum as fuel are sought after in a panic rush.......... Solar is pushed hard as the sunlight is free, abundant, although not evenly distributed/ available  through out geographical areas.

2. pollution, global warming have been somehow linked to burning of fossil fuel. Cleaner, greener technologies and alternatives are sought after.

So, we blame the vehicles, industries etc that are using fossil fuel. But very often, a few things slipped, by chance or on purpose.......

a) road congestion might be the cause of micro-climate change (localized increment of temperature). By having a better planning to reduce it, the air would be fresh again, e.g. during lock down.

- plans of 5 to 10 years, commonly used by private companies to set their achievable goals or missions, have been popularly copied by the governments to set their development plans. However, there might be a need to reinspect this strategy. Roads changed every few years with more adjunct traffic lights, pop up town sheds or high rises etc reduce the efficiency of the initial plan, waste fuel, cause pollution and heat accummulation during traffic stagnancy, reported to have caused civilized sickness e.g. constipation, bladder issue from holding pee in slow moving traffic, modern slavery of overtime without additional pay (including time taken to arrive half an hour to an hour earlier and back late to avoid jam) etc.

b) heavy development with many redundant, some of lower quality factories and other properties, particularly in the developing countries. Waste of fuel, waste of energy, waste of food if much unsold, waste of space formerly probably occupied by trees etc

Although in a panic, in a rush for change and for alternatives, we love to challenge the hard part and forgo the easier........... would it be worth it at the end, as mentioned by Ecocharger??

Explainer: What's happening with Tesla's $7 billion German 'gigafactory'?

https://www.reuters.com/business/whats-happening-with-teslas-7-billion-german-gigafactory-2021-06-22/

GRUENHEIDE, Germany, June 22 (Reuters) - Next Thursday, July 1, was supposed to be a day of celebration for Tesla: the opening of its self-styled "gigafactory" in the tranquil German municipality of Gruenheide, just outside Berlin.

But thanks to fierce environmental resistance, red tape and planning tweaks it is completely unclear when the first vehicles will roll off the production line of the electric carmaker's first European factory.

Tesla (TSLA.O) has already pushed back the expected opening to late 2021. Yet the environmental agency in Brandenburg, the state where the 5.8 billion euro ($6.9 billion) plant is being built, has still not given final approval - meaning a further delay cannot be ruled out, even into 2022.

Congratulations, after all that hard googling you found something. However what is really going on is that Elon decided to redesign and expand the factory and it is all these new changes that are causing the delay.

"In June, Tesla submitted new documents to the State Office for the Environment. Some of the documents related to the construction of a battery cell manufacturing site on Giga Berlin’s grounds. The documents also revealed that Tesla plans to expand the press shop by adding two more press lines. The company also plans to reduce the body shop into one production line.

Tesla’s revision to Giga Berlin’s plans will need to go through another set of rounds in the approval process. Until July 17, the modifications are accessible to the public, who can raise objections to the changes until August 16. Then, the LfU decides whether the objections need further discussion, which may lengthen the approval process even more. " https://www.teslarati.com/tesla-giga-berlin-final-approval-delay-minister/

The factory won't even be complete before the end of the year.

GOOOOO GREEN

An electric bus made by Proterra went up in flames while charging in a California city that is reportedly thinking about removing the electric buses from the road.

The Washington Free Beacon reportedFriday:

The Foothill Transit agency, which serves the valleys surrounding Los Angeles, will decide on Friday whether costly Proterra buses purchased in the last decade are still operable. Problems cited by the agency include not only the bus that caught fire in what’s described as a “thermal event,” but also buses that melt in the California heat and have transmission failures. Roland Cordero, the agency’s director of maintenance and vehicle technology, says the problems with the buses are exacerbated by Proterra’s inability to help with repairs.

“With the number of failures we are experiencing and the inability of Proterra to provide parts, these [Battery Electric Buses] BEBs will only get worse as we continue to operate them whenever the BEBs are available for service,” Cordero wrote prior to Friday’s executive board meeting.

According to the Proterra website, its vehicles have “proven themselves through more than 20 million miles of service in communities across North America, operating at a lower overall cost than a 35- or 40-foot diesel, hybrid, or CNG transit vehicle.”

However, the electric bus company that has been praised by President Joe Biden’s administration watched its stock drop over the past month due to reports of problems with its product, the Beacon article continued:

In Philadelphia, mechanical failures and weak battery performance forced city officials to shelve buses received as recently as 2019. In Duluth, Minnesota, the buses were taken off the road because their brakes couldn’t handle the city’s hills. The publicly known failings of Proterra’s buses have not deterred key members of the Biden administration, including the president himself, from touting the company on multiple occasions.

A Foothill Transit spokeswoman said the “thermal event” noted in the report referred to a January 2020 incident when a Proterra bus caught fire while connected to a charger.

“The agency’s report complains that parts for the buses it purchased are ‘difficult to obtain’ and that expired warranties force the transit agency to pay tens of thousands of dollars for ‘advanced technology parts,'” the Beacon article said.

Meanwhile, Breitbart News reported in May watchdog group Protect the Public’s Trust said there were still unanswered questions following Secretary of Energy Jennifer Granholm’s sale of her massive holdings in Proterra.

Wireless EV Charging Roads To Begin Testing Soon In Indiana, US

By using magnetised concrete slabs, roads would be able to charge compatible battery-powered electric vehicles driving over it Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) and Purdue University, have announced that they are planning to start the development of contact-less wireless-charging concrete pavement highway segment. This project is a part of the ASPIRE (Advancing Sustainability through Power Infrastructure for Road Electrification) initiative, and the tech is being developed in association with German startup Magment.

All that fluff about EVs will do nothing to reduce CO2, if you still think that CO2 is a problem. CO2 is certainly not a problem.

I guess if you thought that CO2 was an issue, you would not be still driving an internal combustion engine vehicle, as I do.
