But this is not how science works, science is not a show of hands or a count of loyalty, it is a testing ground for hypotheses. Whenever this type of count is done, it is nothing to do with actual research, but rather political exercise to try and squeeze some headlines for a point of view. Weather is not climate, however, the frequency of rare weather events can be used to measure the climate. Insurance companies have tables of how often certain events should happen.
